Megjegyzések:Abstract Background: In the case of people who carry an increased number of anxiety traits and maladaptive coping strate? gies, psychosocial stressors may further increase the level of perceived stress they experience. In our research study, we aimed to examine the levels of perceived stress and health anxiety as well as coping styles among university students amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online-based survey at the University of Debrecen during the ofcial lockdown in Hungary when dormitories were closed, and teaching was conducted remotely. Our ques? tionnaire solicited data using three assessment tools, namely, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), the Ways of Coping Questionnaire (WCQ), and the Short Health Anxiety Inventory (SHAI). Results: A total of 1320 students have participated in our study and 31 non-eligible responses were excluded. Among the remaining 1289 participants, 948 (73.5%) and 341 (26.5%) were Hungarian and international students, respectively. Female students predominated the overall sample with 920 participants (71.4%). In general, there was a statistically signifcant positive relationship between perceived stress and health anxiety. Health anxiety and perceived stress levels were signifcantly higher among international students compared to domestic ones. Regarding coping, wishful thinking was associated with higher levels of stress and anxiety among international students, while being a goal-oriented person acted the opposite way. Among the domestic students, cognitive restructuring as a coping strategy was associated with lower levels of stress and anxiety. Concerning health anxiety, female students (domestic and international) had signifcantly higher levels of health anxiety compared to males. Moreover, female students had signifcantly higher levels of perceived stress compared to males in the international group, however, there was no signifcant diference in perceived stress between males and females in the domestic group. Conclusion: The elevated perceived stress levels during major life events can be further deepened by disengage? ment from home (being away/abroad from country or family) and by using inadequate coping strategies. By follow? ing and adhering to the international recommendations, adopting proper coping methods, and equipping oneself with the required coping and stress management skills, the associated high levels of perceived stress and anxiety could be mitigated.

Cím:Robots for surgeons? Surgeons for robots? Exploring the acceptance of robotic surgery in the light of attitudes and trust in robots / Szabó Balázs; Őrsi Balázs; Csukonyi Csilla
Dátum:2024
ISSN:2050-7283
Megjegyzések:Abstract Background Over the last century, technological progress has been tremendous, and technological advancement is reflected in the development of medicine. This research assessed attitudes towards surgical robots and identified correlations with willingness to participate in robotic surgery based on factors influencing trust in automated systems. Method Using data from a survey, which included the Multi-dimensional Robot Attitude Scale (MdRAS) and a questionnaire consisting of attitude statements regarding the factors affecting trust in automated systems, the experiment assessed the attitudes of healthcare workers and potential patients towards surgery robots, and attempted to find a correlation between these attitudes, age, and gender. Results and Conclusion Statistical evaluation of the responses (N=197) showed that positive attitude towards surgical robots showed a high correlation with the willingness to participate in robotic surgery and gave the strongest correlations with the MdRAS utility and negative attitude towards robots subscales. For the assessment of willingness, the MdRAS subscales alone did not provide a strong enough correlation. All factors examined showed a significant correlation with participation. Having faith in the surgery robot, the propensity to trust technology, the designer's reputation, the ease of work that a surgical robot provides, positive experience with robots, and believing the surgeon is competent at operating the machine seemed to have been the most important positive correlations, while fear of errors gave the highest negative correlation. The healthcare workers and potential patients showed significant differences in the subscales of the questionnaire perceived risk and knowledge but no significant difference in the characteristics of the surgical robot. There was no difference in willingness to participate between the samples. Age did not show a significant correlation with the score achieved and willingness in any of the samples. Significant differences were found between male and female respondents, with men having more positive attitudes and being more likely to participate in surgeries using surgery robots than women. As a result, the research potentially sheds light on the factors that need to be considered when building trust in robotic surgery.

Cím:Relationships between work-family conflict and family structure in the lives of working mothers in Hungary - a pilot study / Sztányi-Szekér, Barbara; Hőgye-Nagy, Ágnes; Szemán-Nagy, Anita
Dátum:2024
ISSN:2050-7283
Megjegyzések:Background: The family, as the basic socialization environment, is a complex dynamic system that - as a whole and through its subsystems - is in relationships with other social systems (Bagdy in Family socialization and personality disorders. Nemzeti Tankönyvkiadó, Budapest, 2002; Lakatos et al. in Mentálhigiéné és Pszichoszomatika 21(1):56?85, 2020). The system with which the family system has long-term relationships is the work system/environment. Creating and maintaining a work-life balance has become a central issue in our societies, as they are two of the most organising forces, and reconciling them is a very difficult task due to the demands and expectations coming from both directions, often simultaneously (Makra et al. in Magyar Pszichológiai Szemle 67(3):491?518, 2012). This kind of "double burden" primarily affects women, but their increasing role in the labour market is not necessarily followed by an equal sharing of work within family life (Engler et al. in Work-life balance in women's careers. In: Tardos K, Paksi V, Fábri Gy (eds) Scientific careers in the early 21st century. Belvedere Meridionale, Szeged, pp 114?126, 2021). We hypothesise that involvement in work negatively correlates with work-life balance, making it more difficult to integrate into the family. It was expected that the relationship between the number of children and mothers' professional involvement would be negative. A positive correlation was expected between the age of the youngest child and the mothers' work involvement. On the other hand, a family united by cohesion and resilience leads to higher job satisfaction. Methods: For the present analysis, we analysed the relationships between work-family conflict and family structure in working mothers with children in a sample of 273 participants. The self-reported questionnaire included demographic data and 2 standard questionnaires: the Work-Family Conflict Questionnaire and the Olson-Family Test (FACES-IV.). The study was conducted in Hungary. Results: No significant relationship was found between work involvement and work-family conflict. A negative relationship was observed between work involvement and family involvement. Similiarily, no significant relationship was found between the number of children, the age of the youngest child and work involvement, contrary to expectations. The findings indicate a positive relationship between good family cohesion, flexibility and job satisfaction. Conclusion: Striking a work-family balance is a challenging process for families with young children, especially working mothers. A mutually negative relationship between work and family involvement has been shown. The importance of a well-functioning family, with adequate cohesion and flexibility, is reflected in family and job satisfaction. The relationship between work-to-family conflict and job involvement is moderated significantly only when family flexibility is low. The results from the present pilot study indicate important relationships between variables and point to further research directions worth investigating in a larger sample in the future.
