Megjegyzések:Robotisation is playing an increasingly important role in economic and technological life today. Industrial robotisation has a significant impact on the efficiency and productivity of manufacturing companies, and service robots are becoming more and more common in everyday life. The main objective of our research is to examine the impact of robotisation on energy consumption and sustainability, as well as the technological and corporate challenges facing the integration of robots. The research is based on a literature review, which we supplemented with a bibliographic analysis. In terms of methods, we relied on the Global Citation Score, Co-Coupling Network Analysis, and Burst Analysis. Our results suggest that research on industrial robotisation can be divided into complementary dimensions, ranging from engineering-level trajectory optimization and subsystem design to system-level modeling, macroeconomic sustainability analysis, and data-driven optimization. The findings highlight that the positive impacts of robotisation on both energy efficiency and carbon reduction can be maximized when these approaches are integrated into a systemic framework that connects micro- and macro-level perspectives.

Cím:A Risk-Based Analysis Approach to Sustainable Construction by Environmental Impacts / Erdenekhuu Nasanjargal, Kocsi Balázs, Máté Domicián
Dátum:2022
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:Sustainable construction is a comprehensive process of balancing the natural and built environment by applying sustainable development concepts. The golden triangle in the construction of time, cost, and quality should also assess risks from a sustainable perspective and investigate the environmental dimensions of the project. However, proper risk assessment for green sustainability is challenging, resulting in project management conducted under uncertain conditions. This study proposes a procedure based on Monte Carlo Simulations to improve the assessment of critical risk factors associated with construction activities. The AHP method was applied to rank environmental impact indicators, and the EMV approach was used to calculate the effects of the expected outcomes. The current study shows that air, water, and land pollution, water consumption, and solid waste are the most critical indicators. The results indicate that the equipment breakdown significantly impacted the duration of (and increase in) environmental issues. The evidence suggests that attention should be paid to sustainability risk factors during construction activities, e.g., the unavailability of materials had the most significant impact on the cost of the construction phase. The results suggest that the inadequate control of sustainability risk factors can lead to poor performance and tough decisions in a construction project.

Dátum:2025
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:Because of their many health benefits, blueberries are highly sought after as superfoods. There are also ongoing initiatives to enhance sustainability in blueberry packaging by selecting appropriate materials. Ideal packaging should ensure the safe delivery of the fruit to consumers while maintaining product quality, addressing environmental concerns, and promoting circularity. The environmental impact of four different packaging materials was assessed using a comparative cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment. The materials evaluated included a cardboard package (CB), a cardboard package with a cellulose lid (CBC), a polypropylene (PP) as a control, and a punnet made from rice straw topped with polylactic acid (RPLA), a bio-based plastic. The evaluation considered all environmental impact categories, utilizing Sphera GaBi software and the CML 2016 method. Special attention was given to various end-of-life scenarios, determining energy resources and fossil abiotic depletions. The results indicate that RPLA is the most eco-friendly option, with the lowest carbon footprint and energy resources. CB has a larger carbon footprint but less overall impact than traditional incineration, while CBC has the highest impact during recycling, mainly due to marine ecotoxicity. PP has a relatively low impact on energy resources and fossil abiotic depletion compared to CB and CBC packaging materials.

Megjegyzések:It is a serious challenge for humanity to find an appropriate response to stop the accelerating rise in global temperature caused by atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions. After a methodological review of the literature, online and in-person modelling of education, work, and conferences, and relying on the results of life-cycle studies, we sought the answertowhatreasonable solutions are available for decarbonization and energy reduction. During the research, the organizational carbon footprint of a selected office, educational institution and conference, and then the carbon footprint created by a person in 1 h, were examined. The two-day online education significantly reduced the daily commute load in transport by 402 tons of CO2 equivalent per year. Still, the energy demand of home learning subtracts 136 tons from this, so the real benefit was 266 tons above in an institution educating nearly 3500 students. In a workplace of 180 people, where 52% of employees commute, 90% teleworking saved 222 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in one month, taking into account the carbon footprint of working from home. In the case of conferences, the online solution reduces the carbon footprint due to the absence of travel and catering. Comparing the three areas, for the in-person case, the conference`s carbon footprint per person per hour was the highest (11.91 kg CO2 eq.). This value for education was 1.15 kg CO2 eq.; for work, it was the lowest with a value of 0.90 kg CO2 eq. Moving to an online space resulted in the most significant savings for the conference (11.55 kg CO2 eq.), followed by working (0.54 kg CO2 eq.), and minor savings were achieved in hybrid education (0.13 kg CO2 eq.). The sensitivity analysis highlighted the impact of transport on carbon footprint in all three cases. However, the life cycle cost analysis showed that moving to a virtual space reduces the life cycle cost of de-carbonization by 42%.

Cím:Examining the Carbon Footprint of Conferences with an Emphasis on Energy Consumption and Catering / Mannheim Viktoria, Lovasné Avató Judit
Dátum:2025
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:This research study presents a comparison of an in-person and an online conference in terms of environmental impact and energy efficiency. The main goal of our research was to prepare a complete life cycle assessment of a two-day (15-h), 200-participant inperson and online conference based on different impact assessment methods. Life cycle assessments focus on the numerical determination of the decarbonization of conference consumption (lunch, dinner, food and beverage consumption during breaks), conference organization (discussions, correspondence, abstract booklet, registration package), travel, and infrastructure. The meals were examined by connecting the stages of preparation, cooking, consumption andend-of-life cycle as a cradle-to-grave analysis. We paid particular attention to the calculation of energy consumption. After carbon footprint comparisons, the areas with the highest impacts with pie diagrams were identified. Lastly, a SWOT chart and an SAP-LAP analysis diagram summarize the achievable objectives and challenges. In conclusion, there is no outstanding difference between the impact assessment methods for the carbon footprint investigation. Travel contributes 57% of the overall carbon footprint at in-person conferences, while the environmental impact of meals holds the second largest share, at 8.41 kg CO2 equivalent/person/hour. Excluding meals and travel, the calculated carbon footprint is 0.362 kg CO2 equivalent/person/hour (only considering the effect of preparation, organization, administration and registration package). Our initial hypothesis was that an online conference reduces decarbonization, which the results confirm.

Dátum:2022
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:Electric vehicles (EVs) have become a symbol of the fight against climate change. However, in many countries, the market development of EVs is sluggish, and adoption rates greatly vary worldwide. This study examines the impact of Hofstede's six dimensions of national culture on the development of the electric car market using sales data from 2019 and 2020 in 21 OECD countries. Results of (OLS) linear regression analyses show that uncertainty avoidance, individualism, masculinity, and indulgence have a significantly negative impact on the sales of battery electric cars, while long-term orientation positively influences their market share. The results indicate that national culture is an important cross-country factor that influences the rate and direction of the adoption electric cars. The research also explains how cultural values are translated into the purchase of EVs and provides marketers and policymakers with an insight into how they can increase the spread of alternative-fuel vehicles.

Dátum:2022
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:Successful energy transitions, also referred to as leapfrog development, present enormous prospects for EU nations to become carbon neutral by shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. Along with climate change, EU countries must address energy security and dependency issues, exacerbated by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, rising energy costs, conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, and political instability. Diversifying energy sources, generating renewable energy, increasing energy efficiency, preventing energy waste, and educating the public about environmental issues are proposed as several strategies. The study draws the conclusion that central European countries may transition to a clean energy economy and become carbon neutral on economic and strategic levels by locating alternative clean energy supply sources, reducing energy use, and producing renewable energy. According to the study, the EU energy industry can be decarbonised and attain energy security using three basic strategies, such as supply diversification, energy savings, and quicker adoption of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels. The energy transformation industry still needs to improve energy efficiency, incorporate a circular and sustainable bioeconomy, and support renewable energies, including solar, wind, hydropower, nuclear, and hydrogen.

Cím:Economic Drivers of Renewable Energy Growth in the European Union : Evidence from a Panel Data Analysis (2015-2023) / Török László
Dátum:2025
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:The European Union (EU)`s climate policy and energy strategy objectives focus on increasing the share of renewable energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen energy independence, and achieve sustainable economic transformation. This study empirically examines to what extent and in what direction the GDP per capita, investment rate, and energy intensity influenced the development of the share of renewable energy sources in the 27 Member States of the European Union from 2015 to 2023. This research used multiple linear regression, β-convergence analysis, and a fixed-effects panel model to process panel data from official Eurostat databases. The results show that the effect of GDP per capita is structurally positive but not significant in terms of change within a particular country over time. In contrast, the investment rate is positively and significantly related to the share of renewable energy in all models. The results of the fixed-effects model highlight that in years when the investment rate in a given Member State increased, the share of renewable energy sources in gross final energy consumption also typically increased. In the case of energy intensity, no significant relationship was found. However, the literature suggests that improving energy efficiency continues to play a key role in achieving the EU`s sustainability goals. This study concludes that stimulating investment activity and developing country-specific energy strategies in the EU Member States are essential to accelerating the energy transition.

Cím:The Trend in Environmental Load in the European Union during the Period of 2012-2022 / Török László
Dátum:2024
ISSN:1996-1073
Megjegyzések:The environmental burden is a global problem affecting the European Union. A comprehensive analysis of the environmental burden is essential for creating strategies supporting sustainable economic development. This study attempts to answer the question of why, despite the continuously decreasing energy consumption of the EU, the environmental burden of this region is not substantially decreasing. This study provides novel insights into this research area by integrating EU economic dynamics and environmental efficiency indicators. In this study, we used the IPAT method. Before the main analysis, the researcher conducted cross-sectional dependence, slope heterogeneity, and Westerlund cointegration tests using the primary data. Based on the results, the EU member states were classified into clusters, and a linear trend model analysis was carried out. The results show that the total environmental load of the EU did not decrease significantly between 2012 and 2022. The fact that the environmental burden remained at the same level is explained by the fact that there were 16 member countries whose total environmental load increased but whose economic output was lower during this time period. This was offset by 11 member countries with high economic outputs, whose total environmental load decreased. This study proved that GDP growth was the main driving force maintaining the total environmental load at the same level. The EU should encourage member states to continue to implement environmental protection rules to limit and eliminate costly environmental burdens on their societies and economies. This study can be helpful to researchers, political decision-makers, and experts working on environmental public policies for the EU.
