Megjegyzések:We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of primitive algebraic integers with index A in totally complex bicyclic biquadratic number fields where A is an odd prime or a positive rational integer at most 10. We also determine all these elements and prove that there are infinitely many totally complex bicyclic biquadratic number fields containing elements with index A.

Megjegyzések:In this short note we give all solutions to the exponential Diophantine equation (4m^2+1)^x+(5m^2?1)^y=(3m)^z where 20<m<90 and m=3(mod 6). In view of earlier theorems of Terai, and of Su and Li, this result yields a complete solution set to a problem of Terai.

Megjegyzések:In this paper we consider representations of algebraic integers of a number field as linear combinations of units with coef-ficients coming from a fixed small set, and as sums of elements having small norms in absolute value. These theorems can be viewed as results concerning a generalization of the so-called unit sumnumber problem, as well. Beside these, extending previous related results we give an upper bound for the length of arithmetic progressionsof t-term sums of algebraic integers having small norms in absolute value.

Megjegyzések:We highlight some of the most important cornerstones of the long standing and very fruitful collaboration of the Austrian Diophantine Number Theory research group and the Number Theory and Cryptography School of Debrecen. However, we do not plan to be complete in any sense but give some interesting data and selected results that we find particularly nice. At the end we focus on two topics in more details, namely a problem that origins from a conjecture of Rényi and Erdős (on the number of terms of the square of a polynomial) and another one that origins from a question of Zelinsky (on the unit sum number problem). This paper evolved from a plenary invited talk that the authors gaveat the Joint Austrian-Hungarian Mathematical Conference 2015, August 25-27, 2015 in Győr (Hungary).
