Megjegyzések:Background The positive association between physical activity (PA) and heart rate (HR) related cardiovascular (CV) fitness and CV risk is well established, but it is less well known how the type and intensity of PA have influence on the efficacy of the risk reduction. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between CV fitness and three intensity categories of PA in four domains in the Hungarian population. Methods Data for our study were obtained from a cross-sectional survey (n?=?665) conducted in Hungary in 2018. Individual PA was assessed using the IPAQ long form and expressed as the metabolic equivalent of task minutes per week for light, moderate and vigorous activities for total and each domain (work, transport, domestic and gardening - dom. & gard., leisure-time - LTPA). CV fitness was assessed using the YMCA 3-minute step test, with HR measured at rest (HRrest) and immediately after exercise (HRaft) and their difference (?HR) was calculated. Multiple regression analysis was used for the statistical analyses. Results Total PA (B=-0.001; p?<?0.001), its vigorous (B=-0.001; p?=?0.001) and moderate (B=-0.001; p?<?0.001) intensity forms, and LTPA (B=-0.002; p?<?0.001) showed a significant association with both HRaft and ?HR, whereas dom. & gard. domain (B=-0.001; p?=?0.010) is only significantly associated with ?HR. Vigorous intensity form of dom. & gard. (B=-0.002; p?=?0.006) and moderate intensity form of LTPA (B=-0.004; p?<?0.001) showed individually significant associations with HRaft but not with ?HR. Transport by bicycle was the only form of PA that showed a significant association with both HRaft (B=-0.004; p?<?0.001) and ?HR (B=-0.003; p?=?<0.001). Conclusions Based on our results, among the domains of PA, dom. & gard. and LTPA, both moderate and vigorous intensity forms, as well as the use of bicycles for transport showed the strongest association with favourable CV fitness, and their promotion in public health interventions is recommended. Key messages ??Recommendations should consider that not all forms of physical activity significantly improve individual cardiovascular fitness. ??Interventions targeting the improvement of cardiovascular fitness should improve physical activity in leisure time and the use of bicycles for transport.

Megjegyzések:Objectives: The overall aim of the research is to gain insight into the lifestyle and health behaviour of young people with disabilities aged 12?18 years, and to learn about the factors shaping their health. In this study, our aim was to investigate the eating habits and physical activity of adolescents with disabilities and the influencing factors. Methods: The study's source population was young people aged 12?18 with disabilities in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. A total of 239 completed questionnaires were processed and analysed. Boys were overrepresented in the study. Results: The results show that inadequate eating habits also exist in the population we studied, the consumption of certain foods correlates with the education level of parents. A more secure social background is a protective factor in terms of physical activity. The survey was made with the aim of intervention much needed. With precise knowledge of the health behaviour of the target group, our goal is to develop a complex intervention programme adapted to the needs of children with disabilities. Conclusion: The eating habits of adolescents with disabilities in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County are unsatisfactory. Experience and results show that differentiated health promotion of young people with disabilities is necessary.

Megjegyzések:Background Hypertension, cardiovascular disorders, and hypercholesterolemia represent significant public health concerns. This research presentation examines the impact of various oral health indicators, such as bleeding gums, untreated dental decay, loose teeth, and missing teeth, on these conditions within Hungary. Materials and methods This study utilized data from 5,603 individuals participating in the 2019 Hungarian European Health Interview Survey. Predictor variables were chosen using elastic net regularization and k-fold cross-validation to enhance the performance of weighted logistic regression models. Sensitivity analysis underpinned the robustness of the results. Results Significant associations emerged between deteriorating oral health and the prevalence of various cardiovascular conditions. An increased likelihood of hypertension was observed in individuals with multiple tooth removals, showing an odds ratio (OR) of 1.67 with a 95% confidence interval (CI) of [1.01-2.77]. The use of dental prosthetics presented an OR of 1.45 [1.20-1.75]. Additionally, presence of gum bleeding corresponded to elevated odds for both cardiovascular disease (OR?=?1.69 [1.30-2.21]) and hypercholesterolemia (OR?=?1.40 [1.09-1.81]). Conclusions enhancing oral health could potentially mitigate chronic cardiac conditions, highlighting the importance of integrating dental care in comprehensive disease management strategies.

Megjegyzések:Objectives: The paper proposes to identify the determinants of patients' rights awareness in mothers and to examine the relationship of health literacy with awareness of those rights. Methods: Our results are based on data from a convenience sample of 894 non-health professional ethnic Hungarian mothers from Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. Health literacy is measured with the HLS-EU-16 questionnaire. Results: Analysis of variance reveals a significant association of health literacy with patient rights awareness. Our results show that health literacy is the highest among patients who filed a complaint through formal channels and/or took legal measures to restore their rights upon violation. A logistic regression model is built to identify the likelihood of having high patient rights awareness, that is, acting formally for the restoration of rights upon infringement. The model controls for covariates. When controlled for covariates, the likelihood of having high patient rights awareness increases with age, and is higher for mothers with highest education, for inhabitants of larger towns, as well as for those with adequate health literacy. Conclusions: The findings of our study have implications for health policy, as they reveal significant inequalities in patient rights culture.

Megjegyzések:Objectives: The aim of our research was to investigate the self-rated health status, health behaviour and hygiene habits of pregnant women, and to explore the influencing factors during the pandemic. Methods: The sample included 1,200 pregnant women who gave birth in the most progressive institutions of the three examined counties in Hungary; 839 questionnaires were returned, based on which the willingness to answer can be said to be 69.9%. After data cleaning, 640 questionnaires were added to the database. Descriptive statistical analyses and correlation tests were performed, during which we used the Pearson's chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. Results: Socio-demographic factors show a significant correlation with the perceived state of health and the degree of responsibility for health, however, the existence of a chronic disease does not affect either the self-assessed state of health or hygienic behaviour. Factors influencing hygienic behaviour include residence, education, assessed income, and gestational age. We found no correlation between health status and hygienic attitude. Conclusions: Our results draw attention to the fact that among pregnant women ? especially pregnant women with low socioeconomic status ? education about hygiene habits is of particular importance. Teamwork is needed in this area, which should start during the period of preparation for pregnancy, but at the latest in the early stages of pregnancy.

Cím:Association of HDL subfractions with cardiovascular risk in Hungarian general and Roma populations / P. Pikó, N. A. Werissa, Z. Kosa, J. Sandor, I. Seres, G. Paragh, R. Adany
Dátum:2022
ISSN:1101-1262
Megjegyzések:Background: High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels are inversely associated with cardiovascular risk (CVR). However, HDL cholesterol is not a homogeneous lipid and can be subdivided into subfractions, which are not uniformly associated with CVR. Among Roma populations, the prevalence of reduced HDL cholesterol levels and, consequently, that of cardiovascular diseases is very high. However, it is not known how this reduction affects the different HDL subfractions and whether changes in their representation are associated with changes in CVR. Methods: The study aimed to investigate whether there is a difference in the HDL subfraction profile between the Hungarian general (HG) and Roma populations and to determine the association of the different subfractions with the CVR estimated by the Framingham Risk Score (FRS) and the Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE) algorithms. HDL cholesterol was separated using the Lipoprint system, which separates 10 subfractions into three classes: large HDL (HDL-L), medium HDL (HDL-I), and small HDL (HDL-S). Analyses were carried out on samples of 100 control subjects (50 Hungarian general and 50 Roma individuals with normal lipid profiles) and 277 individuals with reduced HDL-C levels. Results: Our results show that Roma has reduced levels of the overall HDL subfraction profile, with significant decreases in HDL-6, and -7. Regardless of the estimation method, elevated levels (in mmol/L) of HDL-1 to 3 and HDL-L were significantly associated with reduced risk. A higher representation (in %) of HDL-1 to 3 subfractions have a significant risk-reducing, while HDL-8 to 10 have a risk-increasing effect estimated by FRS. Conclusions: The results of our study show that levels of CVR protective HDL subfractions are significantly lower in Roma individuals and their reduced levels are associated with increased CVR, suggesting that the distribution of HDL subfractions contributes to the to the overall unfavourable CVR profile of Roma.
