Megjegyzések:The scope of tasks organised and performed by settlements and their leaders has continuously broadened since the beginnings of time. Initially, the leaders of settlements were primarily expected to provide for the safe operation of the settlement, the creation of the conditions of commerce, as well as the administration of justice. However, from the 18th and 19th centuries onward, settlements started to play an increasingly important role also in the areas of education, social and healthcare services. In the 20th century, parallel with the spread of the notion of the welfare state, activities related to the useful spending of free time have gained importance, among which, in addition to culture -primarily in the most recent times -sports has played an increasingly significant role as well. The aim of this paper is to explore the possible areas of researching the relationships between settlements and sports. Further developing the tetrahedron model of the settlement, the truncated triangular pyramid model has been created, the two bases of which are the natural environment and the municipal administration, while the sides are the infrastructural, economic and social spheres. The paper will present the results of and further possibilities in sports- related research aimed at each of these spheres, as well as the sports- related characteristics of the interactions taking place along the edges of the truncated triangular pyramid.

Megjegyzések:The interplay between tourism and dog ownership presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for sustainability. The relationship between tourism, dog ownership, and sustainability forms a complex nexus that is becoming increasingly relevant in contemporary socio-economic and environmental contexts. Tourism significantly impacts local economies and environments, and its relationship with dog ownership manifests in various ways. Tourist destinations that promote pet-friendly policies can see an increase in visitor numbers as dog owners are more inclined to visit places where their pets are welcomed. This can lead to increased spending in these areas but also poses potential sustainability challenges such as increased waste production and environmental degradation. Conversely, the presence of dogs in tourist areas can enhance the visitor experience, encouraging longer stays and promoting mental and physical well-being through pet interaction. This aspect can lead to a more sustainable form of tourism that values longer visits over quick, high-impact travel. However, managing the environmental impact of a larger number of pets, including waste management and habitat disturbance, is crucial for sustainability. Sustainability in the context of tourism and dog ownership also extends to the practices of accommodations and tourist attractions, such as the provision of eco-friendly pet amenities, promoting responsible pet ownership, and ensuring that tourism development does not harm local wildlife and ecosystems.

Megjegyzések:Traveling habits and tourism motivations are constantly changing and re-shaping. Because of this reason their examination is indispensable for the tourism industry, as the response to these changes is one of the defining elements of competitiveness and product innovation. In our research, we examined the traveling habits of young workers (average age=29,1 yrs, sd=24,00) in the context of destination choice and sport tourism motivations (N=1182). The survey found that the most popular destination was the European continent, with 71.5% of respondents choosing an EU country and 7.5% choosing a non-EU but European destination. 9.3% of the respondents have chosen only domestic (Hungarian) destination for their holiday in the past 2 years. The results show that only 36.3% of the respondents have taken part in a holiday without sport purposes, while the majority of them (63.7%) have taken part in a sport holiday with some frequency in the last 2 years. There was a difference regarding gender, with significantly more men reporting that they took part in sporting holidays than women (P=0.000). The most typical sporting activities of these types of holidays were swimming and water sports (22.2%), cycling (19.4%) and hiking (11.6%). In tourism product development, the development of leisure sports is of great importance, as it provides the health, entertainment and active recreation that guests demand, thus influencing the choice of destination.
