Megjegyzések:In previous research comparing the English and Spanish top-flight men's football leagues, we found that several sport-specific indicators - such as win rate variance, goals scored index and the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) index - suggest more excellent competitive balance in the English Premier League. This study expands upon that research by examining economic performance indicators, exploring which league exhibits more excellent balance in financial performance, and considering the principle of dual value creation inherent in spectator sports. Previous studies have shown that football leagues have an even competitive balance of teams so that teams of equal strength compete on the pitch, making the match's outcome difficult to predict and ensuring an exciting experience, promising more exciting matches. If this is ensured, more spectators go to the matches, increasing the interest of broadcasters and sponsors in the game and the teams. In other words, the optimal competitive balance increases aggregate revenues for individual clubs and leagues. The strength of clubs depends on their player pool, and the signing of a prominent player can easily upset the competitive balance and give his team a sporting and economic advantage. Overall, a more balanced league is also a "fairer" one. In our present study, we intend to examine the English and Spanish championship seasons between 2014 and 2018 to identify which of these two leagues is more balanced when clubs are compared and analysed in terms of the revenue they receive from the leagues, their value of the player pool and their player transfer activity. When selecting the period for our study, we intended to avoid the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic, so we chose the seasons when the league competitions were still held "regular". Regarding the value of the roster in these two leagues, the difference between the market values of the clubs in the top, middle and bottom "houses" of the championship is more substantial in the Spanish league than in the English one. Regarding revenue from national leagues, the Premier League features a more balanced distribution of money than La Liga. Concerning the nature of player transfers, the top-flight English football aligns more closely with an ideal distribution than the Spanish one. Economic and sport-specific metrics indicate that the English top flight is more balanced than the Spanish, and a more balanced league has a higher chance of an uncertain outcome, which could be a demand factor. Today, the globalisation of sport is an incentive to look at these factors.

Megjegyzések:Ever since the 1990s, club football in Central and Eastern Europe has significantly lagged behind its major competitors in Western Europe both in terms ofprofessional sports and in the business aspect, and this gap between the two sides has only increased in the past couple of decades. The majority of the related research efforts on professional football focuses on the so-called Big 5 leagueswith just a few of these efforts examining the conditions of Central and Eastern European football, and even these few tend to highlight the financial difficulties. Thus, we have analysed the championships of three Central and Eastern European countries between the 2010/2011 and the 2020/2021 seasons based on a variety of parameters to find an answer to the question of how they have adapted themselves to the changing conditions and environment. The methodology applied in our investigation was document review and analysis, the basis for which was the database of the internet site transfermarkt.com. The results of our query showed that, on the basis of Union of European Football Associations' coefficient rankings, the Romanian championship lost quite asignificant part of its power during the course of the time period under scrutiny, whereas its Hungarian and Polish counterparts remained stagnant in the rankings of European leagues. Regarding several factors (including the average age of players, squad size, and the percentage of foreign players), we did not find significant differences with the exception of one or two factors, yet the average market values of the players changed differently in the three championships since the 2010/2011 season. While the market value of players in the Romanian championship has significantly decreased and that of the players in the Polish championship has remained stagnant, the average market value of players in the Hungarian championship doubled by the 2020/2021 season. These changes in transfer balances suggest that the Romanian, Polish, and Hungarian clubs follow different strategies. The Romanian and Polish clubs apply a transfer (market) strategy, whereas Hungarian clubs prefer the so-called success-circle strategy. In our opinion, the success-circle strategy cannot be profitable for the entire championship in the long run, and it involves significant risks because success is never guaranteed in sports.

Megjegyzések:Purpose: In order to map human-resources supply, in our research, we conducted in-depth interviews with directors (6) of leading Hungarian adventure parks. We looked for characteristics of recruiting methods and incentives as well as factors of choosing between candidates. We used a questionnaire survey to discover motivations of adventure park visitors (N=406) and in the case of two adventure parks we also assessed visitors` (N=206) satisfaction with services. The returned questionnaires were processed using SPSS 22.0. We computed descriptive statistics, analysed cross tables and checked Chi2 statistics and Gamma coefficient to find significant relationships. Results: In connection with recruiting the dominant methods are online and through personal connections, for initiatives of the various positions in the adventure park non-material incentives (varied and youthful work environment, discounts for family members) appear most often while in the selection process, instead of professional competencies, personal competencies (communication skills, personality, team work) are the most important. Conclusions: Consumer satisfaction is therefore undoubtedly constituting the basis of a well-functioning business, but the supply of individual services and focusing on different target groups can also make a significant contribution to economic growth

Dátum:2021
ISSN:2247-8051 2247-806X
Megjegyzések:Background: Currently, healthy eating is receiving increased attention. Numerous studies have demonstrated the importance of consuming food groups that are recommended by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and World Health Organization (WHO) to maintain health. However, few studies have evaluated spending on these food groups. Aim: In this study, we examined nutrition in terms of consumption habits and spending behaviour. The aim of this study is to evaluate gender differences according to the two studied aspects (i.e., consumption and spending) in one of the most obese countries in Europe, in Hungary. Methods: Principal component analysis and two-block partial least-squares were chosen as research methods. The participants were university students (n = 701). Results: In this study, we observed significant gender differences in every consumption component and in several spending components. Among women, the consumption of coffee and dairy products is relatively more frequent compared to men; however, men consume more trendy and less healthy products. Conclusions: This study successfully showed gender difference in the spending behaviour and consumption habits. The consumption of less healthy food groups is most noticeable among young men, which greatly contributes to obesity.

Megjegyzések:The aim of our research was to study the family background of young athletes. If parents want their children to like sports and lay down the foundations of a healthy lifestyle, they have to support their children's physical activity in the beginning. Our goal was to identify the factors that make parents support their children's sports activities by exploring the motivations originating from the family. Considering the deteriorating overall health condition of society, the subject of this study is very timely. The promotion of sports is essential if we want our children to live a healthy lifestyle when they grow up. The costs related to the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic problems, which result from sedentary lifestyle and obesity, are increasing both for individuals and national economies (Ács et al., 2011; Ács et al, 2020; Ding et al 2016). It has been established that the costs of supporting physical activities are lower than the treatment of the abovementioned health problems (Apor, 2010; Ding et al., 2017). A body of research has been conducted to study the effects of sport on children and the role of parents in this context during socialization. However, there are almost no studies that evaluate the reverse process, i.e., how sport activities of children affect their parents. In this study, we wanted to determine how children influenced others around them, what happens when parents are introduced to the world of sports through their children, and whether this effect can turn into a motivation to start physical activities. In addition, we wanted to study factors that made parents motivate their children to perform physical activities and the key areas where children could be most influenced. Consequently, this study reveals how sport clubs and associations can be more efficient in reaching parents and children.
