Megjegyzések:Reproductive performance of sheep has a decisive impact on the productivity of the flock, but this is influenced by many factors (e.g. stress, management technology). Applying assisted reproductive technologies ensures genetic selection and genetic progress in sheep farming. However, the application of these methods also has an impact on animal welfare. Animals need to experience as little stress and pain as possible during reproductive and animal health interventions, which can be achieved by optimising husbandry technology and continuously monitoring the stress levels or pain of the animals. Several methods can measure the level of stress and pain induced by various interventions, one of the most important is measuring cortisol concentration (from blood, saliva, wool, urine or faeces), since in the event of a negative stress effect, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis is activated and the concentration of cortisol produced thus shows the degree of stress. Cortisol also has a negative impact on reproductive performance. In addition, the well-being of animals can be monitored using other precision devices, like boluses and accelerometers. During assisted reproductive interventions, the goal is to compare different techniques and then choose the one that causes minimal stress and pain for the animals.

Megjegyzések:Cultivated wheat varieties have different degrees of resistance against powdery mildew. Cyclic hydroxamic acids are key defence chemicals of wheat. Examinations comprised the measurement of cyclic hydroxamic acid content and powdery mildew infection of three varieties (Lukullus, Lennox, Ispán) and a hybrid (Hystar) of field cultivated wheat, and the effectivity of two biological (Polyversum and Trifender) and one conventional fungicide (Sólyom) on powdery mildew. Sample collection and measurement of fungus infection were carried out on three occasions: at BBCH 23-24, BBCH 32-33 and BBCH 77-83 phenological phases. Variety/hybrid and sampling time has significant effect on cyclic hydroxamic acid content, but there was no direct correlation between hydroxamic acid content and powdery mildew infection. Differences were found amongst varieties/hybrid in powdery mildew infection too. Only the hybrid, Hystar, showed considerable infection at every sampling time. The conventional chemical out of fungicides alone proved to be effective, and its effectivity lasted for five weeks.

Megjegyzések:Distribution and abundance of the most harmful click beetles (Coleoptera: Elateridae) were sampled with sex pheromone traps at 11 sites in the Carpathian lowlands in 2022. Samples provided the first Hungarian data on Agriotes sordidus, occurring northwest of the country with low abundances. The most abundant species was A. rufipalpis, while A. ustulatus, A. lineatus and A. sputator were also common. The reordering of the species rank and the absence of A. obscurus from the Transdanubian sites, compared to data collected between 2010 and 2013, may refer to the climatic changes during the last decade.

Megjegyzések:The use of bioinoculants continues to gain research attention due to the need to ensure sustainable soil and crop productivity under climate change. Soil and Plant Analysis Development (SPAD) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) are useful indicators of leaf greenness that have a positive nexus with yield. These parameters are proper indicators of treatment effects. Therefore, this study examined the biostimulating effect of Bacillus simplex seed inoculation on leaf greenness and yield of maize under irrigated conditions. A field experiment with treatments consisting of maize seeds inoculated with Bacillus simplex and a control under irrigation was conducted. The SPAD and NDVI data were collected at the 12-leaf stage (V12), tasselling stage (VT) and Kernel blister stage (R2), while yield component and yield data were collected at harvest time. Analysed data revealed that Bacillus simplex seed inoculation significantly improved NDVI by 16.42% only at the R2 growth stage. Yield and yield components were significantly optimised by Bacillus simplex seed inoculation. Cob length, cob weight, weight of seeds per cob, number of seeds per cob and weight of 1000 seeds improved by 18.45%, 24.99%, 24.62%, 18.62% and 6.34%, respectively. The overall grain yield was optimised by 26.97% (3.12 t/ha). Therefore, Bacillus simplex can be used as a seed bioinoculant with irrigation to enhance sustainable maize production under climate change.

Megjegyzések:Kísérleteinket Kelet-Magyarországon végeztük, ahol négy almafajta (Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Idared és Jonathan Csány) tápanyagellátási reakcióját vizsgáltuk különböző N- és NPK-adagok mellett. A felvételezett gyümölcsminőségi mutatók a következők voltak: gyümölcsátmérő, gyümölcsmagasság, gyümölcstömeg, húskeménység, fedőszín-borítottság, továbbá vizsgáltuk még a lombkorona-sűrűséget. Az eredmények azt mutatták, hogy a N-trágyázás jelentős hatást gyakorol az almafajták gyümölcsminőségére. Ez megmutatkozik a gyümölcsnagyság növekedésében. A növekedés többnyire arányos a kijuttatott N-dózisával. Megfigyeltük továbbá, hogy a közepes N-adag és a mellette kijuttatott PK hatóanyag is igen pozitív hatású volt. A generatív részek mellett a vegetatív felületet is megnövelte a tápanyagellátás, elsősorban a N hatóanyag. Azonban az ilyen módon besűrűsödött lombkorona gátolta a gyümölcstömeg és a fedőszín-borítottság növekedését, ezzel csökkentette a gyümölcs minőségét. De csökkentette a fajták húskeménységét is, ami negatívan hat a tárolhatóságra.

Megjegyzések:This study aims to evaluate the effects of the birth weight of crossbred Moo Lath x 18 Duroc (CMD) gilts on their puberty and first mating age, including the body condition 19 and morphology. The litter size and birth weight of their offspring were also evaluated. 20 Eighteen (18) CMD gilts were selected after weaning and kept in an individual pen 1.5 21 x 2 x 1 m after puberty. The gilts were grouped into three groups based on birth weight: 22 groups A, B, and C (with <0.7, ?0.7?0.9?, and >0.9 kg, respectively). 15 mature 23 purebred Moo Lath (PML) gilts reared by farmers were also involved in this study to 24 compare the morphology between the CMD and PML at first mating. There was no 25 significant difference in the age and body weight of CMD gilts at puberty and first 26 mating among the studied groups. However, the gilts in group A showed a lower mean 27 age at puberty, and marginally lighter body weight than those in groups B and C. Birth 28 weight showed a significant influence on the backfat thickness at puberty and first 29 mating (P<0.039 and 0.031). The CMD gilts could have their first mating at 193 days, that is at their 3rd and 4th 30 estrous cycle, with approximately 40 kg of body weight, 38 31 mm of backfat thickness, 90 cm of heart girth, 100 cm of body length, and 51 cm height 32 at wither. The CMD gilts` birth weight did not influence their litter size, but influenced 33 their offspring`s birth weight. There was not significant differences in the body weight 34 at first mating between the CMD and PML gilts, however the average body length and 35 heart girth of CMD gilts were marginally longer.
