Megjegyzések:We present a classical treatment of the ionization and electron-capture processes in the interaction of protons with neutral noble-gas atoms, namely, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe. We used a three-body classical-trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) method to calculate the total (TCS) and differential (DCS) cross sections of single-electron processes. The Garvey-type model potential was employed in the CTMC model to describe the collision between the projectile and the target, accounting for the screening effect of the inactive electrons. The TCSs are evaluated for impact energies in the energy range between 0.2 keV and 50 MeV for a number of sub-shells of the targets. The ionization DCS are evaluated for an impact energy of 35 keV, focusing on the outer sub-shells only. We found that our ionization and electron-capture TCSs are in very good agreement with the previous theoretical and experimental data for all targets. Moreover, we presented single (SDCS)- and double (DDCS)-differential cross sections as a function of the energy and ejection angle of the ionized electron for all collision systems.

Megjegyzések:Background/Aim: Since acute myeloid leukemias still represent the most aggressive type of adult acute leukemias, the profound understanding of disease pathology is of paramount importance for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Hence, this study aimed to explore the real-time disease fate with the establishment of an experimental myelomonoblastic leukemia (My1/De) rat model using preclinical positron emission tomography (PET) and whole-body autoradiography. Materials and Methods: In vitro [18F]F-FDG uptake studies were performed to compare the tracer accumulation in the newly cultured My1/De tumor cell line (blasts) with that in healthy control and My1/De bone marrow suspensions. Post transplantation of My1/De cells under the left renal capsule of Long-Evans rats, primary My1/De tumorigenesis, and metastatic propagation were investigated using [18F]F-FDG PET imaging, whole-body autoradiography and phosphorimage analyses. To assess the organ uptake profile of the tumor-carrying animals we accomplished ex vivo biodistribution studies. Results: The tracer accumulation in the My1/De culture cells exceeded that of both the tumorous and the healthy bone marrow suspensions (p<0.01). Based on in vivo imaging, the subrenally transplanted My1/De cells resulted in the development of leukemia in the abdominal organs, and metastasized to the mesenterial and thoracic parathymic lymph nodes (PTLNs). The lymphatic spread of metastasis was further confirmed by the significantly higher %ID/g values of the metastatic PTLNs (4.25?0.28) compared to the control (0.94?0.34). Cytochemical staining of the peripheral blood, autopsy findings, and wright-Giemsa-stained post-mortem histological sections proved the leukemic involvement of the assessed tissues/organs. Conclusion: The currently established My1/De model appears to be well-suited for further leukemia-related therapeutic and diagnostic investigations.

Megjegyzések:The combination of high-density, high-time-resolution inorganic scintillation crystals such as Lutetium Yttrium Oxyorthosilicate (LYSO), Yttrium Orthosilicate (YSO) and Bismuth Germanate (BGO) with Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) sensors is widely employed in medical imaging, particularly in Positron Emission Tomography (PET), as well as in modern particle physics detectors for precisely timing sub-detectors and calorimeters. During the assembly of each module, following individual component testing, the crystals and SiPMs are bonded together using optical glue and enclosed in a light-tight, temperature-controlled cooling box. After integration with the readout electronics, the bonding is initially tested. The final readout electronics typically comprise Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) or low-power Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) and amplifiers, designed not to heat up the temperature-sensitive SiPM sensors. However, these setups are not optimal for testing the optical bonding. Specific setups were developed to test the LYSO + SiPM modules that are already bonded but not enclosed in a box. Through large data collection, small deviations in bonding can be detected if the SiPMs and LYSOs have been thoroughly tested before our measurement. The Monte Carlo simulations we used to study how parameters - which are difficult to measure in the laboratory (LYSO absorption length, refractive index of the coating) - affect the final result. Our setups for particle physics and PET applications are already in use by research institutes and industrial partners.

Megjegyzések:Optically active heterodimeric 5,5·-linked bis-isochromans, containing a stereogenic ortho-trisubstituted biaryl axis and up to four chirality centers, were synthesized stereoselectively by using a Suzuki?Miyaura biaryl coupling reaction of optically active isochroman and 1-arylpropan-2-ol derivatives, providing the first access to synthetic biaryl-type isochroman dimers. Enantiomeric pairs and stereoisomers up to seven derivatives were prepared with four different substitution patterns, which enabled us to test how OR, ECD, and VCD measurements and DFT calculations can be used to determine parallel central and axial chirality elements in three isolated blocks of chirality. In contrast to natural penicisteckins A?D and related biaryls, the ECD spectra and OR data of (aS) and (aR) atropodiastereomers did not reflect the opposite axial chirality, but they were characteristic of the central chirality. The atropodiastereomers showed consistently near-mirror-image VCD curves, allowing the determination of axial chirality with the aid of DFT calculation or by comparison of characteristic VCD transitions.

Megjegyzések:A stalagmite was collected in northern Hungary from the Vacska Cave, where monitoring and ventilation-based site selection had been conducted. The stalagmite covers the 10-8 ka (relative to AD 1950) period, including the so-called 8.2 ka event, and showed preceding signs of climate change that were evaluated by petrographic observations, C-14 activities, Sr concentrations, and stable isotope compositions of calcite and inclusion-hosted water. Comparisons of speleothem records show that isotope peaks at ca. 8.5 ka are related to a regional climate anomaly, rather than to a continental-scale event. In accordance with regional proxy records, the 8.2 ka event was associated with a series of temperature and precipitation amount changes, starting with cooling and a reduction in the winter-to-summer precipitation ratio, and then becoming a humid and warm phase at 8.15 ka. X-ray diffraction-based crystallinity parameter (FWHM) values provided evidence for diagenetic alteration of the stable oxygen isotope compositions of inclusion waters. Nevertheless, the stable hydrogen isotope compositions of inclusion waters and the oxygen isotope values of the host calcite revealed elevated d-excess values, and therefore increased Mediterranean moisture contribution during the 8.2 ka event, which indirectly indicate the southward displacement of moisture transport from the Atlantic Ocean.

Megjegyzések:Photospheric faculae are markers of the solar magnetic field, appearing as bright regions along the edges of granules on the Sun's surface. Using data from the Debrecen Solar Faculae Database, we investigated the spatiotemporal distribution of photospheric faculae between 2010 May 1 and 2014 December 31 and found the following. (i) At lower latitudes, there is an enhanced abundance of faculae appearing as stripes at given Carrington longitudes, which are interpreted as indicative of the presence of active longitudes. (ii) At higher latitudes, we identified so-called crisscross patterns of facular appearance. These patterns are likely the result of faculae in regions situated along the boundaries of supergranules. Last but not least, (iii) various periods of oscillatory phenomena were identified in this facular data set, including a longer periodic range consistent with the quasi-biennial oscillations and shorter ones with periods of 4-12 days. Our findings are supported by the visualization of a simple heuristic thought experiment and more complex dynamo simulations, strengthening the proposed interpretation of the three observed solar phenomena reported.

Megjegyzések:The solar atmosphere is a complex, coupled, highly dynamic plasma environment, which shows rich structuring due to the presence of gravitational and magnetic fields. Several features of the Sun's atmosphere can serve as guiding media for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves. At the same time, these waveguides may contain flows of various magnitudes, which can then destabilise the waveguides themselves. MHD waves were found to be ubiquitously present in the solar atmosphere, thanks to the continuous improvement in the spatial, temporal, and spectral resolution of both space-born and ground-based observatories. These detections, coupled with recent theoretical advancements, have been used to obtain diagnostic information about the solar plasma and the magnetic fields that permeate it, by applying the powerful concept of solar magneto-seismology (SMS). The inclusion of asymmetric shear flows in the MHD waveguide models used may considerably affect the seismological results obtained. Further, they also influence the threshold for the onset of the Kelvin?Helmholtz instability, which, at high enough relative flow speeds, can lead to energy dissipation and contribute to the heating of the solar atmosphere?one of the long-standing and most intensely studied questions in solar physics. ? 2024 by the authors.

Megjegyzések:The influence of the stacking order and of an additional Ag layer on the formation of ordered phases in thin (<50 nm) layered Fe/Pd and Fe/Ag/Pd films was investigated at 460 C. The samples were prepared by magnetron sputtering at room temperature on Si/SiO2 substrate and were post-annealed in vacuum. Composition depth profiling and X-ray diffraction were used to characterize the processes. It has been shown, that the stacking order strongly influences the formation of ordered phases both in Fe/Pd bilayered and Fe/Ag/Pd trilayered films. In bilayered Fe/Pd films for both stacking orders the FePd3 phase appeared and it also showed L12 ordering for one stacking order. Addition of Ag layer between the Fe and Pd layers found to promote the formation of FePd phase which showed L10 ordering or A1 disordered structure depending on stacking order. Based on the analysis of the chemical depth profiles and XRD patterns the transformations were interpreted by grain-boundary diffusion mechanisms including grain-boundary diffusion induced grain-boundary migration and solid state reaction.

Megjegyzések:Fe-Pd based thin films with Au intermediate layer fabricated on different substrates (SiO 2 , SiO 2 /Mo, SiO 2 /W) were investigated at annealing temperatures up to 460 degrees C. The samples were deposited by magnetron sputtering and were post -annealed in vacuum. The ongoing processes were investigated by chemical depth profiling and X-ray diffraction. The experimental results showed that the intermediate Au layer always promoted the formation of FePd 3 phase which also showed L1 2 ordered structure except in one case with W underlayer. However, in the samples with Mo buffer but without the Au interlayer the FePd phase formed and L1 0 ordered phase also appeared for one stacking order. Considering the low diffusivity arising from the annealing temperature the processes were explained by grain boundary diffusion induced reaction layer formation. The formation of the ordered FePd phases was interpreted by the stress accumulation due to the different diffusivity of the components, which relaxes by the shift of the grain boundaries and the transformation of swept over regions. It was concluded, that the effect of the Au interlayer is dominant over the effect of the Mo or W buffer layers.

Megjegyzések:Si-Ge-Au amorphous-nanocrystalline composites are important thermoelectric materials where the Seebeck coefficient and the electrical conductivity may be tuned independently. There are many attempts to improve the thermoelectric properties of Si/Ge systems by the addition of additives like Au. However, the effectiveness of doping and the role of Au is not clear. We report on structural transformations and Au segregation behaviour in post-annealed sputter deposited multilayer thin films using composition depth profiling, electron microscopy, xray diffraction and computer simulation. We show that depending on the nominal thickness of the initial Au layers the film volume becomes depleted of Au for thinner Au layers while for thicker Au layers the Au content is much higher in the form of large precipitates. Due to the self-organization and changing of microstructure during deposition the segregation of Au is very different for different Au individual layer thicknesses. In case of thinner Au layers it is enriched at the free surface, while for thicker initial Au layer thickness gold accumulated at the substrate. We have carried out computer simulations based on stochastic kinetic mean-field model. These calculations support the argument that initial Au island size can drastically affect the dissolution/growth and segregation behaviour of gold which can significantly influence the thermoelectric parameters. Based on these results we provide a possible explanation to the difference in thermoelectric properties found in the literature.

Megjegyzések:Domino Knoevenagel-cyclization reactions of Narylcinnamylamines were carried out with active methylene reagents, which took place with five competing cyclization mechanisms: intramolecular hetero Diels-Alder reaction, stepwise polar [2 + 2] cycloaddition, styryl or aza-Diels-Alder reactions followed by rearomatization, and [1,5]-hydride shift-6-endo cyclization. In the stepwise aza-Diels-Alder reaction, the Nvinylpyridinium moiety acted as an azadiene, producing a condensed heterocycle with tetrahydroquinolizinium and tetrahydroquiniline subunits. Antiproliferative activity with low micromolar IC50 values was identified for some of the novel scaffolds.
