Many sports organisations operate as non-profits, but the emphasis and role of for-profits in this sector cannot be avoided. Today, sports activities are connected to the business sector and generate profit, hence, sports sector is a decisive part of the economy. Sport profile companies differ in their organisational strategy formulation approach. The main focus was to learn more about their strategy approach and market behaviour. 350 sports business organisations were involved in a survey of 3,248 companies, and the Chi-square test, variance analysis, and principal component analysis were applied to the sample. Results showed that 75.7% of the responding sports companies had no written strategic plan. The availability of written strategies seemed to depend on the organisation`s scale. The market-following behaviour was confirmed in the case of smaller sports enterprises. Fitness service providers appeared to follow a market-leading behaviour. Growth, investment, and development naturally emerged as essential factors for companies with higher sales revenue and operating sports facilities, and they were relatively less important in sports goods production and trade. Most of the results showed that in the sports business sector, large-scale organisations focus on strategic-related issues more than other players in the industry.

Due to recent changes in the labour market, recruitment and retaining employees have become more important than ever. Research dealing with the appearance of new generations in the labour market has found that they are less loyal to their employers, have high demands, and the key factors that they consider when choosing a job are salary, career opportunities, working environment, and work-life balance. As numerous studies in recent years have proved the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the context of labour, the question has arisen whether opportunities for sport participation and services supporting the well-being of employees have an influence on young people when they are seeking employment. We carried out an online survey to find out what students of the University of Debrecen think about the issue. The results were in line with the findings of previous studies, that is, young people look for high salaries, good working conditions, work-life balance and career opportunities when choosing a job. However, respondents did not identify sports opportunities and well-being benefits as major factors Yet, we found significant differences between different groups in terms of preference of particular factors, depending on sex, marital status, and whether someone does physical exercises regularly, and whether someone works while attending a university course or not.

Megjegyzések:
Our study aims to discover what reasons justify the physical activity of fitness consumers, and how the motivation of this physically active group can be maintained, which then may contribute to maintain a healthy society in the long run. Of the primary research procedures we chose to use the questionnaire survey method. We used cluster analysis for which we used principal components that were created with factor analysis to determine what groups can be established based on responses to the questions related to motivation and the factors that influence their choices of facilities. Based on the rank order of motivations influencing attendance of fitness sessions, fitness consumers were stratified into four different clusters. Then, segmentation of the consumers was done based on the factors influencing their choices of facilities. Our results lead to the conclusion that the motivation of consumer groups identified in our research can be sustained in the long run, the less active groups can be better involved and attracted to sports offered by fitness centres, on condition the fitness studios reliably serve these needs and provide the expected variety of services and hygienic conditions.

A comparative analysis of sport and economic success through the example of top- and mid-ranking Hungarian water polo clubs / Anett Mészáros, Bence András Bács, Éva Bácsné Bába, Tamás Madarász

Megjegyzések:
The biggest question of professional sports is how to compete successfully in the global economic framework, simultaneously in terms of the sport and in economic terms. As a result, in addition to indicators measuring sports-related effectiveness, the need for an economic analysis of sport has also emerged. Most academic research into the economic aspects of sports are related to the analysis of North American major league sports, as well as to European football. Water polo is also a spectator team sport, yet its economic analysis is almost entirely missing. In this article, we present an economic analysis of the operation of five men's water polo teams - the top four teams in terms of the sports results and one from the mid-range - competing in the highest-level national championship in Hungary. Our aim is to determine, on the basis of the analysis of the data, the relationship between effectiveness in sports and the economic background of the teams. It can undoubtedly be concluded that, in addition to appropriate professional decisions, it is the economic situation of a club that has a clear impact on their effectiveness; in other words, up to a certain point, the more disposable funds and wider range of assets a sports company has, the more effectively it can prepare and the better results it will have in the various domestic and international championships and tournaments. CIT (corporate income tax benefits, "TAO" in Hungarian) support is fundamentally important in the field of youth sports development. While professional sports in Hungary are built on the development of junior players, there is still no clear link between the successfulness of the adult and the junior teams. The first-division teams of the clubs providing the best junior players are frequently in the mid-range or occasionally among the weakest teams in the national championship. Our research has shown that apart from the fact that some teams are extremely successful in the water polo championship, the outcome of many matches becomes quite predictable. Based on these, the uncertainty of the outcome is compromised, and the championship becomes less exciting and also loses some of its audience.

A comparative study of the competitive balance of the Spanish and English top football leagues on the basis of sport performance during the four last seasons before the Covid-19 pandemic / Kristóf Nagy, Bence András Bács, Éva Bácsné Bába

Megjegyzések:
The topic of this study has been the examination and comparison of the competitive balance of the Spanish and the English first leagues of soccer, called La Liga Santander and Barclays Premier League. The basis for the research project has been provided by a database of sixteen hundred elements, containing the data of the two leagues starting from the 2014/2015 season up to the 2017/2018 season. When choosing the time period for the study, we intended to avoid having to deal with the impact of Covid-19, which is why we picked exactly these competition seasons. We have primarily used statistical indicators. In the case of sports-related data, our inquiries have included the following: comparing and averaging the winning percentages per season, furthermore, the winning percentages of championship seasons, the distribution of goals scored and conceded and, finally, the calculation of the HerfindahlHirschman Index. Although there is one aspect of investigation according to which the competition balance of La Liga is closer to the optimal, the dispersion of winning percentages and the indicator of the goals conceded as well as the HHI index show that the Premier League is the more balanced competition of the two.

The relationship between health consciousness and sport involvement in the Hungarian Middle class / György Norbert Szabados, Éva Bácsné Bába, Muhammad Rizwan Hussain, Szabolcs Gergely Orbán, Péter Miklós Kőmíves, Sándor Kovács

Social classes are often influenced by numerous factors such as education level, labor market position, income, and property ownership, including housing and consumption. This also extends to sports sociology, where sports consumption can play a role. It is worth noting that the middle class may exhibit different consumption habits compared to both lower and upper classes. A recent survey was conducted to investigate differences in sports engagement, health status, and the consumption of general and specific food supplements across different social strata. Statistical analysis revealed a strong correlation between sports conservatism and sports engagement. However, no correlation was found between sports consumption and social stratification levels. Individuals who participate in sports tend to be more health-conscious and have a higher intake of supplements, particularly protein and vitamins. Among the middle class, those who were highly involved in sports appeared to consume more supplements related to digestion. This suggests that sports engagement among the middle class is linked to health consciousness and selective supplement consumption when compared to other social classes
