Cím:Comparison of Energy Demand for Heating and CO2 Emissions in Urban and Rural Areas, the Case of Hajdú-Bihar County, Hungary / Kalmár Ferenc, Bodó Béla, Kalmár Tünde
Dátum:2025
ISSN:2075-5309
Megjegyzések:Mitigating carbon dioxide emissions in the building sector is a primary global goal. This paper compares different residential buildings in urban and rural regions of Hajdú-Bihar County (Hungary). Significant differences were found between urban and rural single-family houses concerning their energy performance; however, the differences in CO2 emissions were not significant. Only the differences in specific heat losses were significant between urban single-family and masonry-structured multifamily buildings. Panel buildings demonstrate the best energy performance from their construction period, but due to high investment costs and the inability to change the heat source, the CO2 emissions from these buildings have a lower limit today. In both single-family houses and masonry-structured multifamily buildings, meeting the heat demand can be achieved with zero CO2 emissions using existing technologies.

Cím:Decarbonization Potential of Energy Used in Detached Houses-Case Study / Ferenc Kalmár, Béla Bodó, Baizhan Li, Tünde Kalmár
Dátum:2024
ISSN:2075-5309
Megjegyzések:The main objectives of this study were the energy assessment of detached houses built in different periods in a central European city. A total of 236 detached houses built between 1930 and 2023 in Debrecen (Hungary) were analyzed from an energy perspective, and their CO2 emissions were measured. It was found that the net floor area of family houses built in recent years has increased but that the compactness of buildings has increased as well. The specific heat loss coefficient and the specific energy demand for heating in new buildings have decreased to 15.2% and 18.5%, respectively, over the last 90 years. Furthermore, around one third of the analyzed buildings built several decades ago must have already been renovated at least once for energy efficiency, as their heat demands are 27.6-41.4% lower than estimated. Energy consumption in six houses built in recent years was measured and studied. It was found that the occupants` behavior may increase CO2 emissions from heating by 26%, while CO2 emissions from hot-water preparation may decrease by 38.2%. The potential of the locally available sources of renewable energy was calculated, and the costs of decarbonization packages for eight building groups were evaluated.

Cím:Comparative analysis of energy demand at an equal operative temperature in the case of radiator and low-temperature radiant heating / Kalmár Tünde, Bodó Béla, Han Shiyu, Li Baizhan, Kalmár Ferenc
Dátum:2025
ISSN:2352-7102
Megjegyzések:Despite energy-saving efforts heating still represents an important share in the energy balance of buildings. Low-temperature radiant heating systems are considered advantageous in terms of energy saving and thermal comfort. The goal of the performed research was to compare the energy demand at equal operative temperatures between "low-temperature radiant heating" and "radiator heating". 432 room models were developed in different geometries, envelopes, windows-to-wall ratios, and indoor air set-point temperatures while the variations of radiant and operative temperatures were determined. The surplus of energy in the case of radiator heating to obtain similar operative temperatures was calculated, and the heat released and heat losses of radiant heating were determined. The average surplus of heat in the case of radiator heating is 3.07 %. Furthermore, it was found that the total energy demand by low-temperature radiant heating exceeds in all 432 analysed cases of radiator heating because of the huge heat losses (40.71 % on average), which are generated by the embedded heating layers in external building elements. The energy demand for heating in the case of radiant heating systems was 1.69 %-8.62 % higher than radiator heating.

Cím:Heat losses of low-temperature radiant heating systems / Kalmár Tünde, Bodó Béla, Kalmár Ferenc
Dátum:2023
ISSN:2352-4847
Megjegyzések:There is a consensus among stakeholders that nearly zero energy buildings (nzeb's) represent a step forward towards low-carbon societies. The envelope of nzeb's is well insulated, so there are cases when the external building elements are used as radiant heating surfaces (floor, ceiling, and walls). There is little information about the heat losses of the low-temperature radiant heating systems installed on the inner surface of the external opaque building elements. The purpose of this study was to quantify and compare the energy used for heating in the case of traditional radiator heating and three different radiant heating modes. The calculation methodology was validated by laboratory measurements. Three different thermal requirements related to the building envelope have been assumed and two different heat sources, so 24 different cases have been analyzed in detail and the energy used was compared. The switch-on and switch-off temperatures were determined using the heat gains utilization factor calculated on a daily basis. It was shown that the energy used for heating in the case of radiant heating (taking into account the delivered heat and the heat losses) exceeds the energy used in the case of radiator heating. In the case of nzeb`s the difference is the highest and may reach even 23.2%-24.8%
