Megjegyzések:	The present paper aims to explore higher education students` spreadsheet competencies and reliability through self-assessment and real-world problem-solving practices. Digital natives alleged skills and competences allowed us to hypothesize that students perform better in Excel than on paper, but the findings cannot confirm this hypothesis. However, our results indicate that students tend to inaccurately assess their spreadsheet competencies compared to their actual performance in both paper-based and Excel tasks. It has also be found that students need at least twice as much time to achieve the same high scores in the digital environment as they do on paper. The results violated the wildly accepted assumption that digital native students do not need computer science education, since they are born with it. This study highlights the importance of accurate self-assessment in digital skill development and time management within higher education contexts, particularly in technology-driven disciplines.

Megjegyzések:	The impact of cognitive biases, particularly biased self-assessment, on learning outcomes and decision-making in higher education is of great signifcance. This study delves into the confuence of cognitive biases and user experience in spreadsheet programming as a crucial IT skill across various academic disciplines. Through a quantitative analysis, we investigate whether structured learning in spreadsheet programming can counteract self-assessment biases among higher education students. Specifcally, our focus is on scrutinizing the accuracy of self-assessment in Excel profciency among professional STEM students at the University of Debrecen, Hungary, by comparing traditional written and digital assessments. Our fndings reveal that while high-achieving students tend to exhibit more accurate self-assessments, many students have a pervasive tendency to overestimate their spreadsheet competencies. These results emphasize the necessity for educational strategies that acknowledge cognitive biases in self-assessment, with far-reaching implications for curriculum design and lean management in higher education, by integrating evidence-based approaches to enhance digital competencies. This study makes a valuable contribution to the broader dialogue on improving learning outcomes and user experience in spreadsheet programming. Additionally, the research provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers, advocating for pedagogical adjustments that can assist students in better evaluating their skills and knowledge, thereby promoting more precise self-assessment practices.

Megjegyzések:	Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a significant source of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and plays a crucial role in climate change and global warming. This study aims to explain the effects of primary and renewable energy supplies and environmental taxation and to analyse how taxation can alter their direct effects on carbon intensity. The research was conducted using a generalized method of moments model that uses instrumental variables with two-stage (2SGMM) estimators to calculate the direct and moderating effects of environmental taxes on carbon intensity. This study confirms the EKC theorem, and results have shown that primary energy supply and environmental-related taxation positively contribute to carbon intensity. The second finding indicates that a major increase in the proportion of renewable energy will greatly slow the rate of carbon dioxide emissions. The study provides additional evidence concerning the moderating role of taxation in amplifying the impacts of primary and renewable energy supply. The empirical findings suggest that the taxation impact is more fiscal than an incentive. In addition to the current energy and economic crisis, considerable funding and fiscal policies are needed to achieve more sustainable development paths towards carbon neutrality and energy security.

Megjegyzések:	The research aims to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 7 and 12), which ensure that appropriate steps are taken to combat climate change and its impacts by ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy. In order to achieve carbon neutrality, it is worth examining the direct and indirect effects of economic and social factors influencing CO2 intensity using a dynamic panel regres sion methodology based on the OECD Green Growth database. Among other things, the results estimate how much carbon intensity would be reduced if the average share of renewable energy were doubled. It is also worth exploring the moderating effects of energy prices, environmental taxation and transfers in order to design more effective economic policies
