Introduction: People with disabilities are characterized by suboptimal health and lower self-rating health. Their need for health care is greater, they often have a higher prevalence of health problems and they have more difficulty accessing health care. The aim of this study was to assess the health behaviors and health indicators of 12?18-year-old young people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, and to explore their school-related perceptions in the Northern Great Plain region of Hungary. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted with the participation of 185 young people. A custom questionnaire was used, based on the Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey, assessing eating habits, oral care, physical activity, mental well-being, and self-reported health status. The sample was categorized into three groups: the ID1 (Intellectual Disability level 1) group, encompassing young individuals with mild intellectual disability; the ID2 group, encompassing young people with moderate intellectual disability; and the ID+ASD group, encompassing young individuals affected by both intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. Results: Consumption of various food types was below optimal levels. Low intake of fruits and vegetables was common, with only 21.6% of the respondents consuming fruit daily and 23.8% consuming vegetables daily. ID1 group reported significantly higher rates of nervousness several times a week (17.8% vs. 5.6% and 6.9%, p < 0.001), sleep difficulties (28.8% vs. 7.4% and 15.5%, p = 0.032), and dizziness (9.6% vs. 1.9% and 3.4%, p = 0.022) compared to the other two groups. A third school-related factor, related to negative emotions, showed a near-significant difference (p = 0.064), suggesting that students with both autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability perceive lower levels of acceptance from teachers. On school-free days, computer usage was significantly highest in the ID+ASD group; 50% of them used a computer for at least 4 h per day. Conclusions: To improve mental well-being among affected children, psychological support and the implementation of mental health programs are recommended. In addition to teaching stress management techniques and coping mechanisms, integrating relaxation techniques into comprehensive developmental programs both individually and in groups is advised. For teachers, it is recommended to acquire disability-specific communication strategies.

Megjegyzések:
The health status of Hungary's population is unfavorable, with significant differences in health indicators not only compared to the EU15 but also to the Visegrad countries. Unfavorable health indicators can be disproportionate and particularly affect vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities. In this study, we set out to compare the health behavior of disabled youth and youth with typical development in Hungary. We also aimed to compare the health behavior of adolescents in the Visegrad countries. The eating habits of both groups of young people we examined are unfavorable. Adolescents with disabilities experience a significantly higher rate of school stress than children with typical development in Hungary. The prevalence of somatic complaints and parameters of poor mental well-being are significantly higher in Hungary than in the other Visegrad countries. The results indicate that additional interventions are needed in Hungary and that differentiated, professional health promotion is needed for young people with disabilities. The researchers recommend extending the study to disabled adolescents living in Visegrad countries, on the basis of which an injury-specific health promotion methodology could be developed with international interprofessional cooperation.

Flexible Parametric Survival Modeling of Transaminases as Predictive Biomarkers for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease : a Retrospective Longitudinal Study (2012-2022) / Ghanem Amr Sayed, Tóth Ágnes, Takács Péter, Ulambayar Battamir, Móré Marianna, Nagy Attila Csaba

Megjegyzések:
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common metabolic liver disease linked to obesity and diabetes. This study aimed to assess whether serum GOT and GPT can predict NAFLD early in at-risk individuals. A retrospective cohort study was conducted using hospital records from the University of Debrecen (2012?2022), including 4886 NAFLD-free individuals at baseline. NAFLD incidence was tracked using ICD-10 codes, with transaminase levels (GOT and GPT) and key metabolic comorbidities analyzed as predictors in a longitudinal design. Survival analysis included Fleming?Harrington tests, Kaplan?Meier, and Nelson?Aalen estimators as well as restricted mean survival time. The Royston?Parmar flexible parametric model was used to assess the time-dependent effects of GOT, GPT, and metabolic risk factors on NAFLD incidence. An elevated GOT was significantly associated with an increased NAFLD hazard (HR = 2.71, 95% CI: 1.31?5.58), as was an elevated GPT (HR = 2.21, 95% CI: 1.09?4.43). Disorders of lipid metabolism showed the strongest association (HR = 3.29, 95% CI: 1.51?7.25). Elevated GOT and GPT levels, in combination with demographic and clinical factors, may serve as valuable prognostic biomarkers for NAFLD progression, underscoring the importance of routine liver enzyme monitoring and comprehensive metabolic management to improve long-term patient outcomes.

Megjegyzések:
Objectives: The aim of our research was to investigate the self-rated health status, health behaviour and hygiene habits of pregnant women, and to explore the influencing factors during the pandemic. Methods: The sample included 1,200 pregnant women who gave birth in the most progressive institutions of the three examined counties in Hungary; 839 questionnaires were returned, based on which the willingness to answer can be said to be 69.9%. After data cleaning, 640 questionnaires were added to the database. Descriptive statistical analyses and correlation tests were performed, during which we used the Pearson's chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. Results: Socio-demographic factors show a significant correlation with the perceived state of health and the degree of responsibility for health, however, the existence of a chronic disease does not affect either the self-assessed state of health or hygienic behaviour. Factors influencing hygienic behaviour include residence, education, assessed income, and gestational age. We found no correlation between health status and hygienic attitude. Conclusions: Our results draw attention to the fact that among pregnant women ? especially pregnant women with low socioeconomic status ? education about hygiene habits is of particular importance. Teamwork is needed in this area, which should start during the period of preparation for pregnancy, but at the latest in the early stages of pregnancy.
