Megjegyzések:	Social demands for rural development are multifunctional, as economic-, ecological and socio-cultural functions have to co-exist in order to maintain sustainable development in rural areas. The paper describes the steps of the multifunctional resource analysis: (1) setting up the fields of investigation (the three basic functions of rural areas); (2) setting up questions which may assist to judge the potential of the given rural resource in the basic functions; (3) make a comprehensive judgement of the potential, using 5 categories: very poor, poor, average, good, outstanding. A case study on the evaluation of the rural development potentials of land use systems is presented. The land use systems have different potentials in integrated rural development. Less intensive land use systems, as forests and grasslands offer more balanced attainment of rural functions. The multifunctional resource analysis is a useful tool (method) to attain rational resource use in rural development.
