Megjegyzések:The European Communities had mainly economic goals and did not intend to harmonize private law; freedom of capitals, persons, goods and services were the main principles. Until the end of the 1980s the Communities did not make efforts on unifying private law. This need only appeared in the 1990s. It became clear that national laws restricting cross-border commerce have to end and establish some sort of harmonization to get different national laws closer to each other. The need of unifying laws got to the area of private law as well. Although utopistic signs are fading, this is still not obvious whether harmonizing contract law is necessary or even possible. This study aims to collect reasons supporting or avoiding the harmonization of contract law in Europe with demonstrating results affecting the development of contract law in both jurisprudence and Community Law and also to illustrate how this process made an impact on the Hungarian Contract Law with using a specific example.
