Cím:Cryoglobulinaemia és krónikus hepatitis C vírus fertőzés / Gergely Lajos
Dátum:1996
Megjegyzések:It has been proved during recent years that type II essential mixed cryoglobulinaemia has a pathogenic cause in many cases. This proven agent is hepatitis C virus (HCV). The infection is a chronic, slowly progressing process, and the diagnosis is very often based on extrahepatic findings, such as cryoglobulinaemia and associated vasculitis of the skin and several organs. This emphasizes the need for a new approach to patients with cryoglobulinaemia, so as to screen for the presence of HCV infection on a routine basis. The establishment of proper diagnosis is vital to the patient as therapy is different if there is HCV infection, and recombinant interferon-alpha treatment protocol should be started, which releaves the symptoms in as high as 80 per cent of the patients. In a few cases a course of interferon therapy may lead to a complete resolution of chronic HCV infection. In this communication a review of the diagnostic and therapeutic approach is outlined to help physicians dealing with these patients.
