Megjegyzések:	IntroductionDiabetes is a chronic disease; patients with diabetes require further treatment for the rest of their lives. Such chronic condition requires adequate knowledge. Objectives Assessing the level of knowledge in patients with diabetes mellitus and its relationship to glycemic control, the paper investigates the level of knowledge of diabetes with disordered metabolism reported in individuals with metabolic ordered, separately for the two types of diabetes.MethodsThe study sample consists of 259 subjects with diabetes. The participants were asked to provide biographical data and medical history of diabetes and from the family's medicine cabinets were collected medical records on the last value of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c). Then patients were asked to complete the Diabetic Knowledge Questionnaire, 24-item version.ResultsThe multivariate analysis only at the level of education reached statistical significance, where significant improvement was observed in both knowledge types of diabetes. Only in type 2 diabetes we could show a significant difference in knowledge between the group of balanced diabetics and unbalanced diabetics group. In type 1 diabetes the results showed that the knowledge is not the best predictor of glycemic control.Conclusion The knowledge level that could serve as mediator between the measured variables, but knowledge alone does not always lead to behavioral change.
