Megjegyzések:	INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES. Diagnosis of prostate cancer at an early stage generates a great frequency of low-volume disease or lack of tumour in radical prostatectomy specimens. The aim of this study was to analyze oncological results of patients classified as pT0 stadium after radical prostatectomy.MATERIAL AND METHODS. 1134 patients were evaluated undergoing radical prostatectomy (490 perineal, 75 retropubic and 569 laparoscopic approach). Patient was staged as pT0 in case when there was no evidence of prostate cancer in the specimen. Patients were divided into two groups: patients being administered neoadjuvant hormonal treatment (227) or not (907). Biochemical relapse was defined by two consecutive PSA level over 0.2 ng/mL, clinical relapse was defined by local recurrence or metastasis proved by imaging examinations.RESULTS. Overall 32/1134 (2.8%) patients were staged as pT0, 21/227 (9.3%) from the hormonally treated group and 11/907 (1.2%) from the non-hormonally treated group. After an average of 38.7-month follow-up period two PSA-only relapse and one clinical relapse (pelvic MR proved local recurrence six years after surgery) was observed in the hormonally treated group. No recurrence occurred in non-hormonally treated group.CONCLUSION. Biochemical and clinical relapse despite vanishing prostate cancer phenomenon in hormonally treated group indicates, that these cases should be considered not to be true pT0. Histological changes caused by hormonal treatment presumably obscured the tumour. However prognosis of pT0 patients without neoadjuvant hormonal treatment is excellent.
