Megjegyzések:In Romania, the educational and occupational integration policies aimed at Deaf in the past several decades characteristically ignored their identity peculiarities, a fact which should be regarded as an important causal factor of the low level of educational and professional attainment among Deaf community members. To a large extent, this inheritance and its negative consequences are still with us. The influence of educational concepts based on the hegemony of the oral method is considerable, the sign language of the Deaf is not taught in the schools, and it is not officially used in the schools' educational and welfare activities. In order to be effective, the continuity of educational programs for sign language development should be integrated into all levels of education, starting from early childhood development.
