Megjegyzések:	Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is one of the main small game in Hungary, however stocks maintaining are increasingly based on indoor breeding. The hunting pheasant population in Hungary was formed by mix of several sub-species, like Phasianus colchicus var. pennsylvanycus, Phasianus colchicus formosanus, Phasianus colchicus torquatus, Phasianus colchicus mongolicus, Phasianus versicolor. In our study the aim was to assess a method by morphometric and chromatometric tools to distinguish the subspecies. During the morphometric studies we are planning to examine the animal's age, sex, weight, length and width of the wing, the wingspan, length and width of the tail feathers, as well. Then descriptive statistical analysis of the correlation between the mentioned traits will be performed. In the other method, the chromatometric study, objective color measurements (Minolta Chromameter CR-410) at three points on the body (breast, back, right wing shield) are planned to perform. Classification of color grades and then their popularity among hunters will also be studied. Furthermore, the confidence intervals of color grades which allow rapid classification of individuals will be detected. As a result of this study we will obtain a primary image of morphometric and chromatometric diversity of Hungarian pheasant stocks, and it can be used as a base of the further selection work.
