Megjegyzések:	The Original Braunvieh is a middle sized cattle breed, originated from the Alps. It is a traditionally dual-purpose breed, however today it is mostly used for milk production. In this study the current state of the breed was characterized according to body measurements and body indices as well. The measurements of 60 cows were taken in farms around Kempten (Bavaria), by use of measuring stick and tape measure. With regard to the body measurements and to the body indices, a large variance was observed. All body measurements showed significant (p<0.10) increase with age. It is concluded that a slow isometric growth is typical for the Original Braunvieh cows. The breed is showing characteristics of a traditional dualpurpose breed, good tendencies in both, for milk (overgrowth index) and meat (compactness index) production. This study aims to reveal the advantageous properties of the Original Braunvieh.
