Cím:Cost-Effectiveness of vitamin K2 in the prevention of osteoporosis related fractures in Hungary - A narrative review / Abrar Ghaith
Dátum:2023
Megjegyzések:Osteoporosis is one of the systemic diseases present by a decrease in bone mass with increased susceptibility to bone fractures as a consequence. Osteoporosis causes a massive financial burden, particularly the treatment cost of fragility fractures and their future impact i.e work loss or disability. The fat-soluble vitamin K has two forms: K1 which be found in vegetables with green leaves, and K2 produced in the intestine by Lactobacillus bacteria and found mainly in fermented dairy. Recently, other functions of vitamin K2 have arisen. It is essential to bone physiology such as signaling, bone cell remodeling, and apoptosis. We performed a comprehensive search through the different databases for English-language sources to determine if vitamin K2 has a significant advance in bone health and/or fracture prevention in patients with osteoporosis. Also, how can vitamin K2 likely reduce the costs of osteoporosis-related fractures. literature reviews, unfortunately, showed that the preventive practice has a less served role in inpatient care. All findings point out that treatment with vitamin K2 can successfully prevent the incidence of osteoporosis-related fractures, and thus reduce its financial burden. Encouraging patients to consume a vitamin K2 enrichment diet also appears to be advantageous.
