Megjegyzések:	This article deals with the codification of service pragmatics in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Although the Austrian and Hungarian codification efforts are very different, they have a number of similarities. By examining these parallels and differences, it provides an insight into the completely different traditions of public service in the two territories, which are also illustrated by the debates on pragmatics. There was a long road to the pragmatics of service for Austrian civil servants (1914), but the codification was successful. On Hungarian soil, on the other hand, no such code was drawn up despite several drafts. The present study, which explores the historical-political background of the two similar and yet different processes, brings together the previously disparate the disparate results of research in public history, legal history and other social and other social-historical research.
