Megjegyzések:Interleukin 17 (IL17) is a proinflammatory cytokine that has been the focus of intensive research because of its crucial role in the pathogenesis of different autoimmune and immunoiflamatory disease. IL17 is an important therapeutic target in many diseases such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis or SPA. The Th17 pathway is involved in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic vasculitides and cardiovascular disease as well. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a disease characterized by dysregulation and hyperreactivity of the immune response. Among the effector cells involved, the Th17 has shown significant hyperactivation and participates in kidney damage. Aims of this work is to present the prognostic and immunopathologic role of the Th17/IL17 axis in lupus nephritis. Vasculitides are defined according to the size and the type of the vessels that are predominantly affected. From large to small vasculitis, histopathological lesions are different but evidence hints that T-helper (Th)-17 cells and IL17A are involved in their pathogenesis. In this review, the key effects of the Th17 pathway on blood vessels and its involvement in ANCA associated vasculitides and gaint cell artreitis will be detailed. Therapeutic implications are also discussed. Finally the relationship between IL17 and cardiovascular diseases is also discussed.
