Megjegyzések:
In recent decades, the structure and economic processes of pig farming have undergone a complete transformation. The rapid emergence of globalisation is also reflected in the daily life of the various agricultural sectors. As a result, political, social and environmental influences are creating new challenges for pig farming, be it African swine fever or the Covid-19 pandemic. For the whole vertical, the current and very significant problem is the economic impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on both input and output sides. The last 1.5 years have shown that, compared to previous competitiveness challenges, the situation of the pig sector is even more difficult today. The study uses time series analysis and econometric calculations to present and evaluate the effects of the war on sales prices and economic indicators of a modern 1000 sow plant in Hungary. For the time series analysis, 8 European countries are considered, taking weekly sales price data. For the economic analysis, the cost-income ratios of the above-mentioned high quality pig farm were considered in the light of 28,000 saleable fatteners and their by-products. The results show that sales prices were relatively flat until spring 2022, despite the after-effects of the pandemic. However, the outbreak of war and the price rises that preceded it caused a huge explosion in prices. This has been exacerbated by the hectic week-to-week rush, which also makes planning difficult. Of the 8 markets surveyed, Spain, as the leading European country, also shows these trends. The econometric study also concludes that production would turn loss-making at the end of 2022, without subsidies, compared to the previous balanced, profitable production, due to an increase of up to 6-8 times in feed and energy prices in particular. Overall, 2022 was a challenging year for pig production in Europe and Hungary, compounded by a significant decline in the continent's pig population. In 2023, the respective stock reductions have stimulated demand and the favourable cereal harvest and the fall in energy prices will somewhat offset the difficulties of the previous year, but even such a "good year" will mainly mitigate losses
