Megjegyzések:Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), a well-known cyanobacterial toxin is affecting physiological parameters, thus growth and productivity- in aquatic and crop plants. MC-LR is a heptapeptide, a specific inhibitor of type 1 and 2A serine-threonine protein phosphatases (PP1, PP2A). As such, it is a powerful tool in the study of regulatory roles of protein phosphatases in plant cells, including their involvement in the regulation of plant defense against biotic and abiotic stress. In this presentation we give a timely survey of subcellular alterations induced by MC-LR and the lessons that we learned from this research. Alterations in chloroplast structure and division will influence the efficiency of photosynthesis, thus plant productivity. Inhibition of PP2A and PP1 can lead to cell death accompanied by changing of cell wall composition, disruption of tonoplast, other components of the endomembrane system and cytoskeleton, alterations of chromatin structure (including DNA strand breaks). We will also give a survey of subcellular alterations and oxidative stress responses in Arabidopsis mutants impaired in the functioning of catalytic and regulatory subunits of PP2A to give a comparison to the effects of the cyanotoxin. Knowledge on these changes will certainly contribute to a better understanding of cyanotoxin-plant interaction and the involvement of PP2A in many subcellular processes.
