Megjegyzések:The Redwing is a relatively small species of the genus Turdus, which is widely distributed throughout the northern Palearctic region. It is a long-distance migrant that winters mainly in western and southern Europe. In these areas, the nighttime sound of the species' characteristic seep calls as it migrates en masse overhead is one of the clearest signs of the advancing boreal autumn and a harbinger of the upcoming winter for birdwatchers. The species breeds in open-forest mosaics and tundra vegetation. Its diet varies seasonally, with insects and larvae predominating during the breeding period, while fruits and seeds become important thereafter. The sexes are very similar in plumage coloration, but the Redwing can be distinguished from similar species by its red flanks and underwing coverts, and prominent buffy-white supercilium. Despite its large distribution, the Redwing seems to be declining throughout its range, and it is currently classified as Near Threatened according to the IUCN Red List criteria.
