Megjegyzések:One of the most important unresolved problem in geotechnical risk assessment is that "Why are failures less frequent than our reliability studies predicts?". Investigating the safety requirements of Eurocode 7 it has been concluded that the calculated Overall factor of safety, which represents the reliability of a geotechnical design, does not include the safety of soil mechanics parameters, which is induced by probability requirements. Not counting the safety of the soil mechanics parameters in the Overall Factor of Safety adds an additional safety, which is not taken into consideration. In order to define a reliable overall factor of safety for geotechnical engineering structures the probabilistic safety of the soil mechanics parameters must be transferred into factor of safety and be incorporated into the overall factor of safety. Method converting the probability requirements of the soil mechanics parameters to factor of safety is proposed. The newly defined overall factor of safety describes reliably the safety of the geotechnical structures.
