Megjegyzések:	Results of examinations on the effects of urban green areas (mainly the forest of the "Nagyerdo") on the spatial pattern of the urban heat island (the thermal difference between the city and its rural countryside) in Debrecen are presented in the present paper. Measurements were carried out using mobile techniques. Examinations have proved the existence of the Urban Heat Island (UHI) in Debrecen; and revealed its unique spatial characteristics. Under antycyclonic weather conditions strong heat islands occurred, but their shape was usually deformed by the prevailing winds. Strong cyclonic activity eliminated the formation of the UHI, while under weak cyclonic activity regular, but weak heat islands developed. The cool pole of the city was the forest of the Nagyerdo, which was cooler than its urban environment by 0.5-0.8 ?C on the annual average. Highest horizontal temperature gradients (0.5?C/300 meters) were found there in the city.
