Cím:Applicability of complex-induced rhizofiltration technology in case of heavy metal contamination / Attila Nagy, János Tamás
Dátum:2005
Megjegyzések:Some plants may be able to reduce the heavy metal contents in polluted matrixes by using rhizofiltration technology. One of the phytoremediation technologies is the rhizofiltration, with which the pollution can be eliminated by the metal uptake ability of roots, rhizomas and heavy metal adsorption on the root surface in water. The extraction of heavy metals is the main point of this research, since application of complexing agents can increase the bioavailability of heavy metals. The applied extracting agent is the CMS (Condensed Molasses Soluble). During the experiments, using CMS, CMS+mine tailing (heavy metal contaminated flotation sludge) in different dilution ratios, the accumulation and translocation properties of heavy metals of common reed (Phragmites australis) and sedge (Carex flacca) were studied, and the ecotoxicological properties (growth inhibition, seed germination) of often applied indicator plant species were examined, such as duckweed (Lemna minor) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa). Furthermore the optimal extracting agent concentration for the applied plant species in rhizofiltration technology was also examined. According to the evaluation, significant bioaccumulation can be found in case of every examined heavy metal (As, Cd, Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb and Zn), and the translocation ratios also depend on the species. The results suggest that the metal uptake increases with increasing CMS concentration, therefore CMS contributes to the enhancement of heavy metal bioaccumulation.
