Megjegyzések:Redox signaling theory suggests that oxido-reductive reactions may start signaling cascades; these reactions could be provoked by many intrinsic and extrinsic factors in living cells. Oxidation is elicited by reactive oxygen or nitrogen species (ROS, RNS) and contributes to certain diseases (i.e., ischemia, atherosclerosis, inflammation, cancer, etc.). Therefore, it is very important to understand the exact pathomechanisms and pathways involved in redox signaling to develop the most effective therapeutic treatment for disease states. The aim of this review is to discuss some important processes of redox signaling and to summarize different methods of provoking oxidation in living tissues under ischemic and hypoxic conditions. In the case of cardiac ischemia, it is shown that the main difference between in vivo and in vitro models regards infarct size; this is an informative preliminary study before using more expensive molecular biological approaches. It is possible, and we make attempts, to describe a set of criteria that can be used to assess animal models and techniques of cell and molecular biology for studying redox signaling in various organs. Furthermore, we summarize the most important methods to monitor related protein expression and activity, as well as the absence or presence of apoptosis. In addition, we demonstrate a promising future perspective that is a theoretical and practical possibility, the Hill equation, for characterizing the concentration of different components participating in redox signaling at their site of action. In this review, we emphasize the advantages and use of different models and techniques in terms of the relationship between investment (experiment) and return (information).
