Megjegyzések:	Creating and Recreating the Model of Today's School and Home in Marcin Szczygielski's NovelIn its author's own words Bierki, a novel by Marcin Szczygielski, is built upon the clichés of a contemporary commedia dell'arte, in which all characters correspond to archetypes: Columbina to Anna, Columbin to Paweł, Scarpio to ükasz, Arlekino to Krzysztof and Brighella to Marek To some extent, this novel is a continuation of Berek, an earlier one by the same author. They coincide at least in one aspect: in both works the world depicted is centred around sexual otherness, its acceptance and the struggle for its acceptance. The present short study, however, focuses on decoding structures different from those hitherto mentioned and aims to demythicize, in the 21st century, the topos of childhood home and the survival of masques supplied by Gombrowicz.The spirit permeating the novel conveys an unambiguously perceptible atmosphere of an intertextual type infiltrating into it from Ferdydurke. Thus, the characters in Bierki are all disguised in masques, submerging in deception. In fact, they strive to meet the expectations of a stereotypical role of an earlier, socially acceptable stage. They try to retain them for the sake of appearances, creating their own stereotypes, coherent with 21st century values, at the same time. The narration from a 1st-person angle is also telling: it is as if Szczygielski looked upon certain results of research presented by gender and queer studies with an ironic smile. Some of these are eager to explore typological features typically found in female writing. The novel destroys the topos of school and parental home and is a document demonstrating the process of how old categories and ethical values are being decomposed. All this is supported by a usage shared by teachers and pupils alike
