Megjegyzések:	Authors report on 250 patients with papillary thyroid cancer diagnosed and/or treated at the National Institute of Oncology, Budapest. The study population contained 195 females and 55 males (3.5:1). Patients mean age was 41,9 years. Longest survival was 293 months observed in the females under 40 years. This was followed by the survival of males under 40 years (249 months) and females over 40 years (205 months). The least favourable survival was observed with males over 40 years (137 months). Complete or nearly complete removal of the thyroid resulted in the longest survival. Survival was effected by tumour localization (intra or extracapsular position) and multifocal or nonmultifocal character. Postoperative (adjuvant) J-131 or telecobalt therapy did not affect the clinical course of the disease in patients under 40 years. Over this age limit, however, irradiation from an externatal radiation source is recommended irrespective of the patient's age or tumour localization. Hormone therapy for the reduction of TSH production improves therapeutic efficacy.
