In the following work we would like to examine the degradation mechanism of materials in natural environment (hereinafter aging) and their property change in artificial conditions (artificial aging). This paper contains the property change investigation of plastics primarily, including plasticized PVC and HDPE. Special attention was turned to degradation processes occurred by UV light, which is one of the most important factors of degradation under natural conditions. We also present our developed artificial aging instruments.
