Water samples (surface water, thermal water, drinking water, well water, sewage) have been analyzed on field and in laboratory for years. We have executed our measurements in the laboratory of the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, University of Debrecen. In the course of our investigations both classical analytical techniques and instrumental methods were used. In this study we present the methods for determination of the organic compounds and different ionic components of water samples.During an analytical examination not only the choice of appropriate measurement is important, but also the handling of samples. This paper describes the proper methods of collection, storage and preservation of different water samples.
