Waste management has become one of the most significant problems of our time because the population of Earth generates enormous amounts of waste, and most people want to preserve their lifestyle, while also protecting the environment and public health. About 7.5 million tons of industrial waste is generated each year in Hungary. Considerable economic and environmental benefits can be achieved when appropriate industrial waste management is implemented. Wastes are generated during the production of raw materials, and during the subsequent steps of the processes that produce goods for consumption. The aims of this study were to provide a good survey of the general waste management trends in industrial area and show some practical application of these principles in Hungary.
