Megjegyzések:The aim of this study was to analyse the problems caused by the consequences of unfavourableweather (dry and wet) occurring at the R1 growth stage of maize (Zea mays L.), as well as the solution forthese problems, the prevention of yield reduction and the opportunity to improve quality with agrotechnicalfactors (fertilisation, irrigation).The examinations were carried out in a moderately warm and dry production area in Eastern Hungary (47o33'N, 21o26' E, 111 m asl) on calcareous chernozem soil in 2009 and 2010. Six different N doses(0,30,60,90,120,150 kg ha-1) were used in the field experiment in non-irrigated and irrigated treatments.The obtained results showed that there was a significant average positive correlation between Chl content and yieldboth in the non-irrigated (P<0.001; R=0.4377) and the irrigated treatment (P<0.001; R=0.536). There was nocorrelation between protein content and Chl content in the non-irrigated treatment, while there was a weakpositive stochastic correlation (R2=23.1%) between them in the irrigated treatment. In the non-irrigatedtreatment, the regression analysis showed a weak negative correlation (P<0.05; R=0.372) between yield andprotein content. No significant correlation could be shown between the variables as a result of irrigation.However, the results of the correlation analyses performed each year showed that weather factors greatlyaffect the strength of correlations which are positive in all cases.The Chl content of maize leaves provided a significant prediction in terms of yield per hectare and the proteincontent of grain during ripening at the R1 growth stage.
