Megjegyzések:The reliable determination of the totalphosphorus (P) content stored in aquatic biota isessential for studies on nutrient stoichiometry, as wellas for effective lake management measures. However,a variety of methods are found in the literature forsample P content determination, which renders itnecessary to assess whether the data reported indifferent studies are comparable. We used differentcombinations of combustion durations, acid types andacid concentrations for sample digestion, and measuredP concentrations subsequently with the standardcolorimetric method. In addition, P contents ofsamples were assayed by ICP?OES and MP?AESmethods. Our results confirmed that the variabilityamong studies using different methods may explainsome of the reported intraspecific and interspecificvariation. We found that duration of combustionexerted the most important influence on the P retrieval,while acid type and acidity of the hydrolysing solutiondid not substantially influence the efficiency of sampledigestion. We recommend using 8 h of combustionand 0.3 N HCl for acid hydrolysis prior to thecolorimetric P analysis, and urge standardisation inthe P analyses of biotic samples so as to obtain reliableresults and data comparable among different studies.
