Megjegyzések:
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's dramatic poem Nathan the Wise was part of enlightenment's struggle for religious tolerance and especially the famous "ring parable" is known as a speech promoting peaceful coexistence of the three religions of the book. In this paper Iwill try to contextualize the parable told by Nathan to sultan Saladin in regard to Nathan's position within the prevalent power structure and to find an answer to the question, what the play as a whole can tell us about our own time. This will be done with a deconstructive approach focussing on what is not said in the text.
