Megjegyzések:Martfű is a small town which was raised by a shoe factory founded by the Czech Baťa company following global expansion strategy in the first decades of the 20th century. Despite the shrinkage of the footwear industry after the change of regime, the town remained one of the biggest centres of the sector in Hungary producing footwear products as well as tools for footwear production. Two factories of the food industry established in the 1980s and thermal tourism developed after 2000 are playing important roles in the necessary diversification of the local economy. In the development strategy of Martfű created by the local government having active role in the economic renewal, there are three main goals: (1) preservation of the traditional industrial culture (footwear industry), (2) strengthening of processing of agricultural raw materials and waste as well as (3) diversification of tourism (sport and active tourism). Though the industrial employment of the town had a strong decline, Martfű is integrated into the settlement network first of all by its economic and employment function.
