Megjegyzések:In the Mecsek Mountain, located in the southwestern part of Hungary, there have been several significant chestnut plantations could be found in the last century. On the southern slopes of the Mecsek Mountain, virtually no other wild orchard could be found before. Unfortunately, since then, a significant number of these natural chestnut orchards have been destroyed. It was mainly caused by the pathogen in the 1970s, the ink disease, then the bark cancer, which also spread in this region in the 1970s and in the 1990s. By the mid-1990s, control of bark cancer had begun in this area, which had largely proved successful. Traces of treatments (25 years ago) can still be discovered in the area. However, this fungal disease cannot be completely stopped. In 2014, in the suburb of Pécs, at the Pécsbánya farm, we started new surveys and treatments. Only one VC group of the pathogen fungus has been found in the area before and now. Thus, it was possible to stop the re-infection of the virulent variants relatively quickly and to promote the natural spread of the hypovirulent fungus within 5 years.
