Megjegyzések:First, I have to explain the title. I shall briefly argue that there is hardly any trace of any conceptual achievement in this period that could be termed as theology of images. At the same time, however, I cannot agree with those that at least intimate that there was no real interaction between learned theology and the production of Christian imagery in the early period. Theological ideas - as I shall argue - are consciously and emphatically reflected on objects of visual art. Can we take the aforementioned wall-painting in Pécs as evidence of this phenomenon, and if so, in what sense? What are the theological considerations that obtain a visual representation in this work of Christian art?
