Megjegyzések:Background and goals EEG and fMRI based Dynamic Causal Modeling is an increasingly used effective connectivity method which is useful to estimate the neural connection strengths of a known brain network model. However, in the cases when the model is not known the finding the best one is computationally demanding because of the exponentially increasing combination of possible connections. Our first aim was to extend the functionality of DCM12 toolbox by an BOLD-curve importing feature which enables the usage of post-processed or simulated fMRI data. Secondly, using this extension we started to develop a modelspace shrinking algorithm which could help to find the best connection model of the investigated network. Methods The evaluated software creates DCM-compatible structures from fMRI and VOI image-files or from CSV- files containing BOLD-signals. The first option was used in the validation procedure in which we compared the results of image and curve based DCM analyses of the DMN of a population of 12 healthy subjects. The CSV-input was used for calculating the connection strength from simulated BOLD-signals by MULAN toolbox. Results and Further plans The image and curve based DCM analyses resulted the same connection strengths verifying the usability of our software. The simulated BOLD-signal based analysis did not evaluate adequate results, hence further investigation is required to solve this problem. Expanding the DCM for reading stimulated curves enables the development of a model-space shrinking algorithm, furthermore it empowers the use the outputs of real neural state simulators such as the Virtual Brain.
