Interuniversity collaboration benefits the participating institutions in several ways; however, it also generates many new administrative and organizational duties. Out of these additional difficulties related to cooperation, the paper details the recognition of qualifications and learning outcomes, the importance and lack of institutional support, and also the way these problems can be alleviated. The identification and occurrence rate of bureaucratic barriers, measure decisionmakers used to mitigate them and two projects where minimizing bureaucracy was a precondition are also presented.
