Megjegyzések:Scientifically false testimony, or perjury in-court testimony, false reports, incorrect methods of collecting and distinguishing evidence have always been a question in criminal procedure and the role of forensic sciences have increased drastically. Conan Doyle made Holmes a man of science and innovator of forensic methods definitely influencing his era. He wrote 60 marvellous detective stories bringing in science into criminal investigation and inspired later many filmmakers too. In this study I present the different legal aspects of "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" (1994, BBC Granada TV, starring Jeremy Brett) in chronological order of appearance, presenting the central legal concept of the main scenes of the film by focusing on criminal procedure. My aim is not only to present the legal and procedural definitions, but also to discuss Holmes' role in the development of forensic science, to show how Holmes fits into the timeline of modern forensic science, and see if he can be called the father of forensic science, and what methods he actually uses. Today, it is hard to believe that "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" was the most controversial tale out of all the Sherlock Holmes stories. "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box"deals with murder and some brutal removal of body parts but this was not the reason why the story was controversial, this was due to the leading cause of the murder. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle makes use of his own medical knowledge to put details into the story, and Holmes demonstrates these scientific abilities during the examination of ears. Conan Doyle also though, designs the case so that Holmes finds it simple to solve, although it is not so clear cut for Hawkins and Watson. However, it is questionable to what depth Holmes' methods, his logical deduction and his forensic tools are actually reflected and whether the whole story can fit into the criminal procedure and forensic sciences. Sherlock Holmes' greatest gift to forensic science in "the Cardboard Box" can be merely found in his scientific attitude, ease during the investigation and his popularity. Today we can confidently say that ?Forensic knowledge is necessary not only for criminal investigators, but also for all professionally involved in criminal proceedings."
