Dátum:2022
Megjegyzések:Crops lose more than 50% of their yields when exposed to biotic/abiotic stress. Increasing world population requires increased production even from the same cultivated area. To do so, yield losses have to be diminished alongside supporting growing crops under biotic/abiotic stress to maximize productivity as well as sustainability. Food/feed safety and security have gained remarkable interest from both policymakers and the public. The utilization of several micronutrients in their nanoscale has been widely increased in the last few years. Water stress, either deficit or excess (waterlogging), is one of the two major abiotic stressors that severely reduce productivity along with salinity. Silicon (Si) has shown enough to alleviate the deleterious impacts of either water deficit (drought) or waterlogging on plant development and productivity. Considering the abovementioned facts, here in the present chapter, efforts have been made to largely and concisely analyze and review the impacts of drought and waterlogging on the nutritional status, physiology, biochemistry, molecular, and development of plants. Also, the mode of action of Si and silica nanoparticles in mitigating the detrimental impacts of drought or waterlogging stress has been discussed.
