Megjegyzések:	The origins of the founders of geopolitics in France In France, the emergence of geopolitics is generally associated with the period between the two world wars. But the roots of French geopolitics, like those of its German rival in Gaul, go back well before the First World War. References to geopolitics can be found in Bodin, Montesquieu and Rousseau. The first truly geopolitical work in France, though, was undoubtedly Paul Vidal de la Blache's Eastern France (Alsace-Lorraine). This work served not only a theoretical but also a practical purpose, namely to justify France's legitimate claim to recover two of its former territories, which had been torn away in the Franco-Prussian War. With this work, the author can be considered a forerunner of French counter-geopolitics between the two world wars. The aim of this paper is to briefly introduce the most important precursors of the French interwar geopolitical school and the most significant geopolitical works of Paul Vidal de la Blache.
