Megjegyzések:	Identification of mare families is an important task for animal breeders to define the origin of the breed. The aim of our study was the sorting of Haflinger mares imported to Hungary and those born here into mare families. The basis of our analysis were the individuals imported to Hungary and their descendants classified as breeding animals up to 2022 in the breeding organisation. The pedigree data were provided by the National Association of Pony and Small Horse Breeders and The Tyrolean Haflinger Breeding Association provided assistance during the classification of the breeding mares into mare families. The Hungarian Haflinger mare population could be classified into 85 mare families according to nine regions. The registered 72 mares in 2022 represented only 40 mare families. Most of them (42 individuals) could be traced back to Tyrolean mare families. There were also mares from other Austrian provinces (Styria - 9, Upper Austria - 11, Lower Austria - 3, Carinthia - 1), Bavarian (2) and Dutch (4). There were only seven families with three or more mares, of which three families have five mares in the domestic herd.
