Megjegyzések:The Non-Refoulment principle stipulates that each country is forbidden to return refugees and/or asylum seekers to their country of origin if they are subject to persecution, threatening their lives. The complexity of the current international refugee situation has been causing the translation of the principle of non-refoulment into various national measure and domestic policies. This study examines the application of the principle of non-refoulment in Indonesia. As a country which has a strategic location, Indonesia has become a significant crossroad for international refugees and receives massive numbers of asylum seekers. The non-refoulement principle is part of jus cogens norms in international law. This principle, however, does not fit reality in which Indonesia has inconsistency to uphold the principle into the binding normative laws. As a consequence, international refugees have received far less attention from the Government due to the lack of infrastructure and financial allocation.
