Megjegyzések:The Hungarian tobacco sector went through significant changes in the last decades. The reason of the changes were our accessionto the EU, then the changes in subsidiary system, the effect of the world and within the EU's strict tobacco policy. The number of tobaccofarms declined and the future became uncertain for the farmers.Size of the farms increased and there were a concentration in the sector, so the smaller scale farmers' activity ceased. It causes severalproblems in rural areas, because one of the main strengths of the sector was its significant role in rural development, as the tobacco in smallscales was able to produce an acceptable income in such areas where due to the poor soil quality economically successfully growing for otherplants are not suitable. The main goal of this paper is to present the Hungarian tobacco sector and its main strengths, weaknesses, possibilities and threats compared to the European Union's situation.

Megjegyzések:The continuous weakening of Hungárián sheep sector and its low effectiveness in terms of value added have posed crucial problemsin recent years. The focal problem has been partially caused by economic and markét problems. Among these issues, mostly the poor muttonsupply chain gives rise to difficulties; therefore the present study seeks to reveal the factors/input variables which predominantly influencethe generation of value added. We have constructed a model fór the mutton product cycle to represent the relations of phases bút mutton trade is nőt included. The mostsignificant aim of our investigation was to identify the volume of value added generated during processing in various phases of the productcycle and the change of which inputs affected this volume. The received findings suggested that in case of Capital uniformity the output of processing was mostly influenced by sheep progeny onthe bottom level of the mutton product cycle

Cím:Analysis of the influential factors on gross value added in the Hungarian sheep sector / Béla Cehla, Sándor Kovács, András Nábrádi
Dátum:2012
Megjegyzések:The competitiveness of the Hungarian sheep sector has been in steady decline for some time now. Crucial has been the problem thatthe value added in the sector is not generated in Hungary, as most of the produced lambs in Hungary leave the country with an average weightof 21 kilograms, with slaughtering happening abroad.A model has been constructed for our investigations, which introduces the connectionsbetween the product cycle phases for mutton in Hungary. This model allows us to calculate the volume of gross value added generated withinspecific product cycle phases. We used Monte Carlo simulation for our examination, for which the Crystall ball software package wasutilized, namely the OptQuest module, for optimization. First, we conducted an optimization of an experiment number of 500,000 for "Grossvalue added" in the case of the slaughterhouse. During the optimization, Easter, Christmas and August lamb ratio and ewe number, as wellas progeny, were set as decision variables and examined as values of gross value added, the decision variables of which contribute toobtaining the best results. The gained decision variables were set in the model and a Monte Carlo simulation was run with an experimentnumber of 500,000, where only the values of the conditions were changed along the pre-set dispersion; the values of the decision variableswere fixed. The most significant aim of our investigation was to identify the volume of gross value added generated during processing invarious phases of the product chain and the change of which inputs affected this volume the most. The findings proved that, in the case ofcapital uniformity, the output of processing was most influenced by sheep progeny on the bottom level of the mutton product chain. Thisfactor is followed by that of weight gain in the source material producing and fattening sub-modules, as well as the gross wage in starter lambfeed and meadow hay in the source material producing sub-modules. Contour plots helped to describe the connections between these factors.By using contour plots, the volume of gross value added might be forecast for various combinations of factors.

Cím:Factors influencing the gross value added in the sheep production chain / B. Cehla, S. Kovács, M. Wolfová, I. Komlósi & A. Nábrádi
Dátum:2012
Megjegyzések:The competitiveness of the sheep sector in East Europe has been decreasing from year to year. The value added in the sector is notgenerated in the countries as a high proportion of the lambs are exported. For example, in Hungary, 95% of the lambs, unnecessary forreplacement, are sold at an average weight of 21 kg and are slaughtered abroad. A stochastic model was constructed to investigate theconnections between the cycle phases of the mutton production. Three modules were distinguished, the lamb production, fattening andslaughtering-processing sub-modules. The aim of our study was to identify the gross value added generated in the three sub-modules and toanalyse the main factors influencing its volume using the conditions in Hungary as an example. The major hypothesis of our research wasthat the profitability of the production chain is mainly determined by the breed. The results showed that, considering market prices, the grossvalue added in the processing module was mostly influenced by the number of lambs sold per ewe per year at the bottom level of the muttonproduct chain. The next most important factors were the weight gain in the lamb producing and fattening sub-modules and dressingpercentage in slaughtering-processing sub-module. Contour plots were constructed which help to describe the relationship among analyzedfactors. Using the contour plots, the gross value added for different combinations of these factors might be forecast.

Dátum:2015
ISSN:1789-221X 1789-7874
Megjegyzések:When viewed from the perspective of climate policy, agriculture as a separate sector is one of the most difficult development areas to assess. One of the reasons for this is the problem of the localization of greenhouse gas emitters, caused by the fact that production takes place in small or dispersed production units. The special circumstance that unit production takes place in complex interactive systems (food, feed, energy sources, main products, by-products, etc.) is yet another special factor, which in addition makes it significantly more difficult to measure and identify the GHGs they emit than if they were a uniform production plant. Additionally, there are few sectors outside agriculture where decision-makers encounter such strong opposition and lobby interests when developing limiting regulations. This stems from the fact that following World War II, European decision-makers and the Common Agricultural Policy elevated agriculture to a prominent role whose importance was indisputable. As a result, both climate policy and other measures that would result in any reduction of the priority of the sector are very difficult to implement, since the players involved always reason that limitations would restrict their competiveness and the security of their production. In addition, the uncertain nature of regulatory elements also poses a grave problem. As an example, the name of the sector itself - the LULUCF (Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry) sector - shows that the strategy for reducing the greenhouse gasses emitted by the whole sector would be significantly different if these units were treated separately (agricultural land use, forest, not-cultivated areas). Taking the above into account, the present study aims to identify development directions that in turn allow those low-carbon development directions to be pinpointed within animal husbandry and plant production that have the greatest feasibility and can contribute to decreasing the GHG environmental load exerted by agriculture.

Dátum:2021
ISSN:1789-221X 1789-7874
Megjegyzések:Most of the energy content of wastewater can be found in wastewater heat, however, its recovery is limited. In this article, the current situation, future opportunities of wastewater heat recovery are presented based on secondary data collection, mentioning the constraints and main influencing factors of sustainable implementation of heat recovery systems in Hungary. Besides, the already existing systems are described. As regards the capacities of treatment plants, 103 of the 574 domestic plants have a capacity of over 20,000 Population Equivalent (PE), of which 25 plants have a capacity of over 100,000 PE. According to our calculations, in big cities/capitals (20.000 - 100.000, and over 100.000 inhabitants), it may be possible to recover wastewater heat sustainably in several places. In small towns (5.000 - 20.000 inhabitants), wastewater heat recovery can be technologically and economically sustainable only in the presence of agricultural or industrial plants with high and continuous wastewater feed into the pipeline system. Taking into account the temperature conditions at each place of use and their estimated fluctuations, it can be said that proper, careful planning, sizing and implementation have a crucial effect on the efficiency of microbiological activity in the treatment plants. In bigger cities, of course, the effect of the temperature drop of one main collector may be minimal, however, in smaller and medium-sized settlements, excessive heat extraction may result in complete inhibition or cessation of nitrification. In Hungarian case studies, the maximum acceptable temperature drop is approx. 2-3 °C. It can be stated that energy recovery from wastewater may be very promising considering the size and temperature limitations. Therefore, the rational recovery of wastewater heat can be an important part of the implementation of circular economy and sustainable energy utilization in wastewater management, resulting in significant energy savings and pollutant reduction.

Dátum:2017
ISSN:1789-221X 1789-7874
Megjegyzések:In my article, after describing the characteristics of recent wastewater treatment activity, I introduce different traditional and innovative energetic opportunities of the compulsory waste management activities at large-scale operational level, covering national and international examples. Furthermore, the wastewater-based biomethane production and the certain plant's energy self-sufficiency are highlighted topics as well. In the former case, it is possible to utilize the wastewater-based biomethane as fuel (and even to operate own vehicle fleet), while the second one gives the opportunity for the internal usage of produced electricity and waste heat, which can also result in significant cost-savings. As an additional option, algae-based wastewater post treatment is presented, based on the conditions of a Hungarian wastewater treatment plant, which biogas production efficiency and thus energy self-sufficiency has developed favourably due to the technological improvements. These plants may have a twofold role in the future: they are responsible for the compulsory waste management activity and on the other hand they can serve as excellent raw material mines.

Cím:Hungarian spirits pálinka as a "Hungaricum" I. / Harcsa Imre Milán, Nábrádi András, Tar Ildikó
Dátum:2014
ISSN:1789-221X 1789-7874
Megjegyzések:The history of alcoholic distillation dates back over thousands of years. Spirits arrived in Hungary by the mediation of foreign countries, and were used as medicine in the royal court already in the XIV. Century. The first written presence of the pálinka as a word originated in Debrecen (1572). The quality and alcohol degree of these drinks were increased continuously, and rose to 'Hungaricum' rank due to several factors such as the quality of the fruit stock grown in our country, the technical development of distillers and several centuryold professional experience. Mitterpacher, who distinguished the main parts of the equipment, reviewed the determination methods of alcohol content, and made a proposal for coating the inner surface of the cauldron with tin in favour of the preparation of the high-quality product, played an important role in the establishment of the literature of pálinka distillation. Subcontract distillation, considered as an individual peculiarity in the European Union, developed during a long time in Hungary. It was facilitated by the regulation of distillery plants allowing the operation also for private persons from 1983. The fame of Hungarian national drink increased greatly when the meaning of pálinka was defined punctually: those drinks could be called 'pálinka', which had 100% fruit content containing no additives, prepared in Hungary and their alcohol content was at least 37.5%. According to conservative evaluation, more than 50% of the Hungarian adult population consumes pálinka occasionally. The majority of the adult population believes that a small amount of pálinka is good for health; many people use it for the alleviation of toothache, sore throat and stomachache. Pálinka has a mood-enhancing impact at social parties and pleasant family events, if consumed in moderation. This paper is an overview of the history of Hungarian pálinka. This is the first part of the article. In the second part we analyze cost-benefit circumstances, and we also deal with the main problematic issue, namely the effect of tax-free production in Hungary and in the European Union.
