Megjegyzések:Foals are born with intact but weakly functioning immune systems. Colostrum provides special immunoglobulins, which are essential for the development of passive immunity. The newborn foal is entirely dependent on antibodies from colostrum for protection against infection during the early neonatal period, meaning that after foaling, in a short time, they need to pick up a sufficient amount of colostrum in proper quality. The quantity and quality of colostrum cannot be influenced although it is well known that well-fed mares in good health typically produce enough antibody-rich colostrum for their newborn foals, the quality of colostrum can be determined by several methods. In 2022, I examined the gestation and lactation of 9 Gidran mares at Kismacs Experimental Station of Animal Husbandry of the University of Debrecen. I used a BRIX refractometer for measuring the colostrum IgG level, and a Lactoscan MCC Combo milk analyser for testing colostrum and milk.

Cím:Characterization of Original Braunvieh in Bavarian Allgäu based on body measurements / Heller Georg-Ulrich, Békefi Janka, Annus Kata, Immler Stefan, Béri Béla, Gáspárdy András
Dátum:2016
ISSN:2498-5910
Megjegyzések:The Original Braunvieh is a middle sized cattle breed, originated from the Alps. It is a traditionally dual-purpose breed, however today it is mostly used for milk production. In this study the current state of the breed was characterized according to body measurements and body indices as well. The measurements of 60 cows were taken in farms around Kempten (Bavaria), by use of measuring stick and tape measure. With regard to the body measurements and to the body indices, a large variance was observed. All body measurements showed significant (p<0.10) increase with age. It is concluded that a slow isometric growth is typical for the Original Braunvieh cows. The breed is showing characteristics of a traditional dualpurpose breed, good tendencies in both, for milk (overgrowth index) and meat (compactness index) production. This study aims to reveal the advantageous properties of the Original Braunvieh.

Dátum:2019
ISSN:2498-5910
Megjegyzések:The most common goal of animal conservation programmes is to maintain genetic diversity. The genetic structure of Furioso-North Star horse breed was studied from pedigree records. Herdbook data of the active breeding population in 2016 of registered Furioso-North Star horses were analysed. The generation interval varied between 10.05 and 12.40 for the analysed population. There were 3,328 and 534 horses covering the total genetic variability of the whole and reference populations, respectively. Most important ancestor was the English Thoroughbred North Star III (2.67%) for the whole population, whereas it was Furioso III-4 (VI.tm) (6.65%) for the reference population, respectively. There were 23 horses having higher than 25% inbreeding coefficient in the reference population.

Cím:Possibility and practice of action against drift in the Lipizzan horse population in Hungary / Kovács Máté, Mihók Sándor
Dátum:2021
Megjegyzések:Modern animal husbandry has drastically changed the genetic structure of some domestic species. Many factors has negative effect on small, preserved populations, but perhaps the intensification of the genetic drift is the biggest challenge for the breeder. In order to reduce the effects of genetic drift, breeding animal exchanges are of paramount importance, which can maintain the greatest possible genetic variation in the subpopulations of a breed and help to build the required genetic links among them. In the case of the Hungarian population, the mentioned process is exemplary on the paternal side, but cannot be considered satisfactory on the maternal side. Looking to the future, efforts should be made to import as many breeding mares as possible from the original mare families, as well as to rotate the Hungarian, F¡ag¡ara? (Fogaras) and original mare families already in Hungary.

Cím:Examination of the vitality of black-colour (Hortobágy) Hungarian racka lambs / Oláh, János, Posta, János, Zokolicza József
Dátum:2023
ISSN:2498-5910
Megjegyzések:Hungary's sheep population is decreasing nowadays. On the first of December 2017, the herd consisted of more than 1.1 million sheep, and by June 2021, this number had barely reached 953 thousand. Based on data from the Central Statistical Office, on December 1, 2020, the sheep population numbered atotal of 944 thousand individuals, of which 754 thousand were ewes (HCSO, 2020). Of this, native breeds account for 2.5%, and nearly half of this is accounted for by the Hungarian racka sheep (Hortobágy). This amounts to approximately ten thousand individuals (BODNÁR et al., 2016). For this small number of sheep, it is important to preserve their genetic values and avoiding inbreeding is even more important. This is particularly related to the fact that we need to examine the vitality of the lambs in orderto produce even better breeding animals. It is important to monitor the behaviour of the sheep, the course of calving and the mother-lamb relationship, as this is of great importance in the development of technology. The observation of our farm animals influences feeding and husbandry technologies, thus we can create a better environment for them (BODNÁR et al., 2015).

Dátum:2021
ISSN:2498-5910
Megjegyzések:The Hungarian Chicken was a good farm animal having good egg production under suitable conditions. The egg production of the Hungarian Yellow, White, Speckled and Partridge Coloured populations of the University of Debrecen Farm and Regional Research Institute of Debrecen was evaluated. Morphological traits (height, width and weight) and some composition parameters (weight of yolk/albumen and eggshell thickness) of the egg were measured during the experimental period. Hungarian Chickens have smaller and more peaked eggs compared to some (semi)-intensive genotypes, thought eggshell thickness is similar to those of, what can be important during transportation.

Dátum:2017
ISSN:2498-5910
Megjegyzések:An effective gene conservation programme requires the knowledge of genetic diversity of the population. The genetic structure of Gidran breed was studied from pedigree records. Herdbook data available up to 2014 of registered Gidran horses were analysed. The pairwise genetic distance between lines was the largest for line "B" and "C" whereas it was the shortest between line "A" and "B", respectively. The traditional, Mezőhegyes originated mare families were closer to each other than any other possible pairwise distance among the mare families. St. Simon xx had the most selected offspring in the Gidran pedigree whereas Gidran XI had the most selected progenies among the purebred Gidran stallions. The broodmare Gidran VI-2 (Spiné) had the most selected foals in the population (6 mares).

Megjegyzések:An effective gene conservation programme requires the knowledge of genetic diversity of the population. The genetic structure of Hungarian Coldblood Horse breed was studied from pedigree records. Herdbook data of the active breeding population in 2016 of registered Hungarian Coldblood horses were analysed. The generation interval varied between 8.71 and 10.22 for the analysed population. The proportion of known parents for the reference population was above 50% in the 6 th generation. There were 3,434 and 427 horses covering the total genetic variability of the whole and reference populations. Most important ancestors were Belgian import stallions for the whole population, whereas it was a French import stallion for the reference stock. Average inbreeding coefficient of the reference stock is 1.8%. There are 27 horses having higher than 10% inbreeding coefficient in the reference population.

Dátum:2019
ISSN:2498-5910
Megjegyzések:The Hucul horse is originated from the former Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy, from the wooden Carpathian region. The structure of the total population was described from available pedigree information of the breeder countries using Nei's minimum distance and F statistics. Appearance of stallion lines and mare families were also evaluated. Only three stallion lines have appeared in all examined countries. Among the 42 mare families only one, 4 Kitca, was found in each breeder countries. Genetic diversity might be decreased due to 11 mare families were appeared only in one country. Smallest pairwise genetic distance was found between sub-populations of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, whereas longest was found between those of Romania and Poland based on both measurement variables. Lowest within population differences were found for the small German population.
